He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Mr. Blassingham was preceded in death by his parents William V. and Margarette Blassingham, and a brother, William V. Blassingham, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Charlene Blassingham, Ocala, Florida; sons, Charles L. Dowdy, Suffolk, Va., Gregory Elmore and James M. Blassingham, both of Ocala; daughter Cindy Dowdy, Tampa, Florida; sister, Kay Strong, Union Hall, Va; and five grandchildren. on February 19, 2002.4

State University, Bob enjoyed a successful career in both the Plastics and Fibers Division of Phillips Petroleum. A series of corporate mergers eventually allowed him to retire from the Chemicals Division of British Petroleum and following retirement he was given the opportunity to serve as an International Marketing Development Consultant for BP. His career pathand resulting retirement options allowed personal time for him to lower his golf handicap and to pursue his art as well as his music, to his mind, all equally important endeavors. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Rick Elmore and wife Linda; a daughter, Donna Epps and husband Yancey; a brother, Robin Elmore and wife Jennifer; a sister, Pattie Rogers and husband Mike; and four grandchildren, Robert Elmore, Hannah Epps, Abbie Elmore and Emma Epps. on September 18, 2012.2
