Linda was a 1968 graduate of Northside High School and earned her degree in Horticulture from Virginia Western Community College. She was a devoted and supportive Navy wife and involved in the activities of the Navy Wives Club. Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Joseph L. Simmons; daughter, Theresa Simmons (Keith) Bush; son, Patrick "Andy" (Jennifer Dinneen) Simmons; grandchildren, Haleigh, Abigail, and Olivia Bush; sisters, Jody P. (Paul) Cronk, Melanie P.
