Mrs. Hayes was born in Clay County, West Virginia on July 21, 1946, and was the daughter of the late Arvin Mason Eskridge and Eveylyn Virginia McCune. A retired electronics assembler, she was the wife of the late Dana George Hayes. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Loretta Lynn Hayes, and by her son, Derrick Palmer. Surviving are three daughters, Tammie Hayes of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Dana Georgianna Hayes of Edenton, and Kelly Palmer of Tyner; a sister, Betty Eskridge Fisher of West Virginia; two brothers, Billie Eskridge of Butner, NC and Larry Eskridge of Catlett, VA; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Inurnment will follow at a later time in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA. on February 26, 2016.⁵
