He was preceded in death by an infant son, Alan Dale Bowles; sister, Ethel Catherine Garinian; brother, John David Bowles. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Liz Bowles; five children, Patsy Carol Dudley, J. P. (Skip) Bowles, Jr. (Doris), Randy Bowles (Becky), Brian Bowles (Ruth), Bruce Bowles; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; sixteen step great grandchildren; four step great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 at Fairmont Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Walters and Pastor Jessica Allen Slusher officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. on January 23, 2019.5

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jimmy Lee Guilliams; children, Gary and wife, Darlene, of Riner, Deborah and husband, Robert Webster, of Boones Mill, Kathy Guilliams, of Boones Mill, Patty and friend, Mick, of Pearisburg, Sheila and husband, John Hall, of Rocky Mount, and Junior Stanley, of Callaway; brother, Milton and wife, Irene Bowles; sisters-in-law and brothersin-law, Edna Bowles and Shirley Bowles, Doug and Kitten Guilliams, J.P. and Liz Bowles, David and Elsie Bowles and Fedessa (Abby) Guilliams; grandchildren, Scott, Trevor, Sean, Nicole, April, Mark, Matt, Bradley, Ashley, Tabatha and Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Katlyn, Alexandra, Carly and Logan; several nieces and nephews; and two special cats, Jo Jo and Oreo. Richard retired from E.I. DuPont in 1985. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Richard also loved spending time in his garden and giving much away. Jay was known for his hard work, love for his family, and love for baseball and his favorite team, the Yankees (or anyone his kids or grandkids played for). Jay retired from Kroger after 30 years of hard work and dedication. Jay also had a strong love for his Lord being a lifelong member of Oak Grove Church of the Brethren in Rocky Mount, Virginia. Jay is preceded in death by his mother and father, Mable and Lester Hodges, and brother and sister, Earl Hodges and Leavona Overfelt. He is survived by his wife, Linda Hodges, brother, Ricky Hodges, children, Donna Cooper (Jackie), Darren Hodges (Rosemary), stepchildren Brent Huffman (Beverly), and Sean Huffman (Laura). He is also survived by his grandchildren Corey Fitzgerald (Scarlett), India Davidson (Matt), Javin Metz (Whitney), Dalton Hodges, Abby Hodges (Nick), and step grandchild DiLaina Huffman (Bret) and by his great-grandchildren Lucas and Liam Davidson, Beau Metz, and Isabella Fitzgerald, plus several nieces and nephews. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Rita Roberts for her compassionate care to Jay during the last year. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, David Bowles. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Pauline Bowles; daughter, Jennifer Burtch (Joe); mother, Elsie G. Bowles; brothers, John Phillip Bowles (Carol), Mitchell Lee Bowles (Wanda), Larry Allen Bowles, Mark Stephen Bowles, Kevin Dale Bowles, Jeffrey Dean Bowles; sisters, Joyce Marie Waldron (Glenn), Judy Ann Saul (Lewis), Carolyn Montgomery (Rex), Melissa Heath (Kevin); and many other loving family members and friends. Those who knew Jerry saw his quiet but strong nature and he almost always had a smile on his face. He was retired from Hancock/Millenium Steel and was known there as a great supervisor. He was also an avid hunter and gardener. He will be missed by so many who loved and respected him. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. on November 1, 2015.4
