Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Porter-Kinser Mortuary with Rev. Lyle B. Roe officiating. Burial will be in Highland cemetery. on December 3, 1963.5

O. and John Hillbrant, Iola, and Henry Hillbrant, Ottawa; and three grandchildren. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Lyle Roe at 2 p.m. Friday in the Waugh Funeral Home. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. on February 12, 1959.7

Hillbrant, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Hillbrant was born in Sumner, Mo., Chariton Co., January 8, 1897, that place being her home until one year of age. Her parents moved to Iola, Kansas, in 1898 and settled on a farm west of the river where she spent most of her childhood days. On November 5, 1924, she was united in marriage to Mr. Perry Zink of Neosho Falls, Kansas. She departed this life on Decem ber 21, 1924, at the age of 27 years, 11 months and 13 days. One sister preceded her to the better world in infancy. Those remaining, are her husband, Mr. Perry Zink, her, parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Hillbrant; six brothers, Otto, Eph, Henry, John, Charley and Loyde all of Iola, and two sisters, Mrs. W. V. Wilson of Iola and Mrs. Marion Foster of Buckner, Mo., and other relaties and a host of friends. By her going her husband and parents have lost a faithful wife and a loving daughter. Our loss is her gain. Her suffering is over. Her crown has been won. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon at the United Brethren church. The Rev. J. L. Thompson of the Salem church, assisted by the Rev. A. C Tudor, conducted the services. Burial was made in Highland cemetery. on January 1, 1925.2

     Lloyd George Hillbrant was buried at Highland Cemetery, Iola, Allen Co., Kansas.3,5 He was born on April 22, 1904 at Allen Co., Kansas.3 He married Fern Violet Lawless on April 19, 1926 at Crawford Co., Arkansas.2,4 Lloyd George Hillbrant died on February 24, 1930 at Bartlesville, Washington Co., Oklahoma, at age 25.3,5 He Lloyd Hillbrant, 26-year-old Iolan who was burned last Thursday in a pipe line blaze near Caney, Kas., died last night at 8 p.m. in a Bartlesville, Okla., hospital. Henry Hoffman, Caney, Hillbrant's working companion at the time of the blaze, died last Friday night. Escaping gas was ignited accidently by a lighted match, the flames enveloping the two men and resulting in the double fatality. Hillbrant's funeral will be in Iola Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. The services will be in the First Methodist church, the Rev. N. L. Vezio officiating. Burial will be in Highland cemetery. Hillbrant was married and had two infant danghters. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Hillbrant, Route 1, Iola. He was the young est of five brothers and two sisters, all but two of them living in this community. Last Saturday relatives went to Bartlesville when they learned that there was little hope of Hlllbrant's recovery. on February 25, 1930.5

He is survived by one son and three daughters, Nate Wilson, Mamie Townsend and Faye Ballah, all of lola, and Lucy Collins, Piqua; a brother, Ray "Buck" Wilson, Iola; 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Ray Nitcher at 2 p.m. Monday in the Sleeper Chapel. Burial will be at the Iola Cemetery. on November 18, 1961.5 He died on November 18, 1961 at Iola, Allen Co., Kansas, at age 80.3,5

On Feb. 27, 1923, James was born to Ephraim and Louella (Foley) Hillbrant in Iola. James graduated from Iola High School in 1941 and attended Allen Community College and Kansas University. He was a Tech Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was a part of the First Weather Reconnaissance Squadron. James was united in marriage with M. Lucille Kaufman on June 4, 1965 in Ft. Scott. She preceded him in death in 1997. James and his brothers owned and operated many businesses throughout his lifetime. He was the owner of Iola Engineering, making custom machinery, from the late 1970s until he retired in the early 1990s. James loved to read and travel. He regularly read 2-3 newspapers a day and several books a week. James was very generous with his library – bringing books to many friends and neighbors. He was a gifted story teller and had a joke ready for any occasion. He was an avid traveler, always taking the side roads to get to his destination. Throughout his life he also enjoyed playing pool, dancing, and listening to big band music. James was a member of the Elk's Lodge and VFW in Iola. He is survived by four children: Diane Hillbrant, St. Paul, Minn., Barbara Hillbrant (Bill Norris), Manhattan, Steven Hillbrant, Kansas City, Mo., and Erica Christie (Rick), Wamego; two brothers: Bill Hillbrant (Thelma) and John Hillbrant (Eileen), both of Iola; eight grandchildren: Charlotte Costello, Torrence Head, Kelsi Head, Stephen Hillbrant, Adam Hillbrant, Amanda Christie, Ashley Adams, and Jacob Christie; and five great-grandchildren: Brayden McCoy, Brentley McCoy, Colby Adams, Shailey Adams, and Fabian Ponce. Memorial Services for James will be held at a later date in Iola. Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapels is in charge of the arrangements on March 31, 2017.2

Dunham on November 6, 1964.2 Lester Lee Hillbrant died on May 10, 2015 at Augusta, Butler Co., Kansas, at age 86.2 He Lester Lee Hillbrant, 86, of Iola, Kan., died Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Homestead of Augusta. Visitation will be at 2 p.m., followed by service at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Waugh-Yokum" Friskel Chapel in Iola. Lester was born May 21, 1928, on a farm west of Iola, the son of Ephriam Jasper and Louella Catharine (Foley) Hillbrant. He graduated from Iola High School and Iola Junior College. Lester farmed for several years before operating a tree service business with his brother. On Nov. 6, 1964, Lester married Rosella Dunham. They lived in Iola until moving to Olathe in 1969, where he worked as a draftsman. In 1979 they returned to Iola and he and his brother Jim operated Iola Engineering for several years. He later worked as a draftsman for Daniel Construction and H.K. Porter before retiring. Mrs. Hillbrant preceded him in death June 23, 2010. He was a member and past Exalted Ruler of Iola Elks Lodge. Survivors include: daughters, Leann Buethner and husband Matt of Augusta, and Rhonda Nash and husband Dale of Kearney, Mo; grandchildren, Karleigh Buethner and Rachel and Michelle Nash; brothers, James E. Hillbrant, John H. Hillbrant and wife, Eileen, and William "Bill" Hillbrant and wife, Thelma, all of Iola. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents. on May 12, 2015.2

Survivors include his widow of the home; a son, Herbert Wilson, Iola; three daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Jacquelyn) Clark, Iola, Barbara Runer, Iola, and Mrs. Bruce (Vicki) Hamilton, Gas City; three sisters, Mrs. Mamie Townsend and Mrs. Faye Ballah, both of Iola, and Mrs. Lucy Collins, Piqua and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Waugh- Yokum Funeral Home. The Rev. W. J. Deckinger will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. on May 19, 1973.3

Ballah, 69, 219 East Monroe, died Saturday, June 2, at the Trinity Lutheran Hospital in Kansas City. Mr. Ballah was born December 1, 1903, near Uniontown. He was married to Faye Wilson September 19, 1926 in Iola. They moved to Fulton where he was a bulk agent for the Standard Oil Company. In 1957 they moved to Iola and Mr. Ballah was a representative of the American School of Chicago, a home study school, until his retirement in 1970. Survivors include his widow of the home and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Waugh-Yokum Funeral Home. The Rev. W. J. Deckinger officiated. Burial was in the Iola Cemetery. on June 4, 1973.3
