     Vicky Lynn Menefee Vicky Lynn Wilhelm, 63, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 2, 2021. Born in Roanoke, Virginia to the late John Jacob and Wanda Caldwell Faw, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, James Melvin Wilhelm, and a daughter, Crystal Hodges. Vicky may have been small in stature, but she more than made up for it with her spunky and outgoing personality. She worked as a dietary aide for Glenvar Middle and High School for several years before becoming an associate with Dollar Tree, where she made many friends. She enjoyed reading, especially books written by Stephen King, and working outside in her yard. A huge fan of Motley Crue, she kept her radio dialed in to old school Rock & Roll. Vicky was a loving and devoted mother and absolutely adored her grandkids. Those left to treasure her memory are her children, Derek (Chelli) Hodges, of Salem, Chasity Clevinger, of Cloverdale, and Angela (Reginald) Brown, of Salem; grandchildren, Madisyn, Jasmine, Cierra, Elijah, Brandon, Haley, Elizabeth, Isaiah, Hunter, Jacob, Amber, Kaitlin, Shala, and Koby; great-grandchildren, Maya, Kai, Chris Jr., Jaliyah, Jahmir, and Syncere; sisters, Debbie (Harry) Lee, Teresa Aguilar, Mary Ann Faw, and Brenda Faw; her ride or die sister -in- law, Janice Bradley, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; as well as her Dollar Tree family and dear friend, Becky. She was a devoted mother and loved her children and family very much. Mr. Kyle had lived in Charlotte, NC for the past 18 years. He was a former employee of McClister Music Company of Bristol, TN and loved to travel and camp. Mr. Kyle served his country honorably in the Merchant Marines and was very active in the Tennessee High School Athletic Booster Club in the 70's. Mr. Kyle is survived by his companion of 22 years, Dorothy Binic of Charlotte, NC. One son, George Gilbert, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Judi August and her husband, Neal, of San Francisco, CA; two grandchildren, Amber and Jed August, both of San Francisco, CA; one sister, Lorraine Fox; one brother, W.T. "Kyle", Jr. and his wife Jewel; and niece Kathy Layne and her husband, Harry, all of Bristol, TN. Also surviving are Dorothy's, children Barbara Fox and her husband, Danny, of Charlotte, NC, Jo Burress of Concord, NC, Richard Schick, and his wife, Pat, of Marietta, GA, Dorothy Jones, and her husband, George, of Maryland, and Dotothy's grandchildren, Rachel Fox Jason Fox, and wife, Lauren, and Richard Schick, Jr. Graveside services were held in Glenwood Cemetery.⁷ He was born on February 21, 1921 at Bulls Gap, Hawkins Co., Tennessee.^{1,3,8,4,5,6,9} He married Nelda Aleine/Alene Altice, daughter of Charles Lee "Charlie" Altice and Pearl Beatrice "Pearly" Gearheart, on November 28, 1950 at Wentworth, Rockingham Co., North Carolina.² George Gilbert Kyle Sr. died on September 21, 2001 at Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., North Carolina, at age 80.^{1,3,8,6,9,7,10}

     Frances Irene Austin Irene Austin Murphy, 91, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Murphy; parents, Bruce and Sallie Austin; brother, Homer Austin and sister-in-law, Grace Austin. She is survived by her son, Kent (Cheryl) Murphy and their children, Brent Murphy and Brice Murphy; daughter, Vicki Austin and her daughter, Whitney; four wonderful great-grandchildren; cousin, Jo Wade; niece, Betty DeBlasio; and other family members and friends who love her. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of The Glebe for all their care and their kindness. She was a longtime and active member of Preston Oaks Baptist Church.
