She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence G. Rock and brother, Corbin James Rock (Corky). Surviving are her husband of 20 years, Neal Amos (57); her daughter, Angela Lavender Hill (45); son, Lawrence Lavender, Jr. (38); son, Christopher Amos (31); granddaughters, Brittany (29), Katie (25), Nicky (21), Tommy (11), Maddie (10); 1 great grandson, Aaron Hill (10); nieces and nephews, Buddy, Daniel, Dalton, Tabytha, Keri; mother, Wanda Neal Atkins; brother, Joel Rock (47); furbabies, BooBoo & IttyBitty; special friends, Barbara, Dennis & Wanda & multitudes of other friends. Anita is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and completed college at National Business School. He participated in the Atlee Little League and Upward Basketball for many years. Luke was a 2013 graduate of Atlee High School, where he was an excellent student and a member of the state championship track team. He was a comedian and loved to make you laugh. Luke was a keen, sensible and mature young man. His passion was cooking and he was a proud chef of Marty's in Mechanicsville. Luke was a loyal, devoted son and brother. He was a good friend to many and never met a stranger. Luke is survived by his mother, JoAnne Brizendine (John Mullen) of Ashland; his father, Franklin S. "Nick" Brizendine Jr. (Sue Ball) of Tappahannock; two brothers, Franklin S. "Tripp" Brizendine III of Cary, N.C, and Joseph "Levi" Brizendine of Ashland; grandparents, Cathy and Franklin Brizendine of Howerton, Marie Owen of Portsmouth and Irving Owen of Richmond; uncle, Dan Owen (Susie); aunt, Jeanne Rivenbark (Jimmy); cousins, Lindsey, Andrew and Hannah. Funeral services will be held in Howerton Baptist Church, Dunnsville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. on January 29, 2016.1

     John Edward Eavey John Edward Eavey, 57, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023. A native of Portsmouth, he was an electronic technician government contractor. John was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Jones Eavey; two sons, Zachary J. Eavey and wife, Emily of Va. Beach and Jared C. Eavey and wife, Hannah of Portsmouth; his mother, Olive Perdue Eavey of Portsmouth; his brother, Kenneth M. Eavey and wife, Katherine of Waynesboro, VA; four grandchildren, Laird, Evangeline, Ruth and Mabel; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was generous with his gifts that the Lord gave him; his woodworking and leather craft projects blessed many that he came into contact with. He was a seasoned cyclist and was a staple at the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail, lovingly deemed the 'trail keeper' by his friends and family. His passion for cycling extended to repairing bikes for others, his goal being to one day open his own bike shop. Most importantly, he loved the Lord and had an unprecedented dedication to His Church. John served in the children's ministry, in the choir, in the men's ministry, as an usher, Sunday school teacher along with his wife, trustee, and deacon. His acts of service to his church, friends, and family will be cherished and deeply missed until Christ comes again.3 He was born on September 30, 1965 at Portsmouth, Virginia.1,2 He married Suzanne Gay Jones on October 22, 1989 at Chesapeake, Virginia.1,3 John Edward Eavey died on July 16, 2023 at Virginia at age 57.3
