Jerry Lee Austin Jerry Lee Austin, 75, died on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at Heritage Hall Health Care, Clintwood, Virginia. He was born in Castlewood, Virginia, son of the late John Henry and Myrtle Brooks Austin. He was also preceded in death by one son, David Eugene Austin; six brothers, Beecher Chaffin, Jim Chaffin, Joe Austin, Curtis Austin, Earl Austin, and Little Paul; and three sisters, Cora Martin, Mildred Lawrence, and Audrey Meade. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the U.M.W.A. He is survived by the mother of his children, Phyllis Ann Austin; one daughter, Sheena Hawkins and husband, Brad of Lebanon, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Hannah Hawkins, Skyler Hawkins, Derek Daniels, LeAnn Fitzgibbon, Shane Gillooly, Cameron Duty, and Kristy Perry; two great grandchildren, Easton Perry and Addison Fitzgibbon; two step daughters, Sherry Daniels of Carterton, Virginia and Pamela Gillooly of Atlanta, Georgia; one step son, Rusty Duty of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Barbara Sue Hall of Castlewood, Virginia; five brothers, Marvin Austin of Castlewood, Virginia, Larry Austin of Castlewood, Virginia, Kinnie Austin of Roanoke, Virginia, Lealon Austin of Castlewood, Virginia, and Rod Austin of Salem, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. Committal Services will be conducted at Chapel of Love Mausoleum, Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Graveside Rites will be conducted by the U.M.W.A. Pallbearers will be Donald Hall, Keith Smith, Danny Chaffin, Derek Daniels, Cameron Duty, and Newton Austin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Jessee, Edward Kiser, Wayne Ring, and Benny Lane.3 He was buried at Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Russell Co., Virginia.4,3 He was born on May 20, 1941 at Castlewood, Dickenson Co., Virginia.1,2,3 He married Mary Louise James, daughter of John Tuttle James and Virginia Frances Poff, on February 9, 1962 at Sparta, Alleghany Co., North Carolina.1 Jerry Lee Austin and Mary Louise James were divorced on September 4, 1974 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.1 Jerry Lee Austin died on December 22, 2016 at Clintwood, Dickenson Co., Virginia, at age 75.3

David Eugene Austin was buried at Glade Creek Cemetery, Blue Ridge, Botetourt Co., Virginia.1,2 His Social Security Number was 229-31-2492.4 He was born on May 30, 1966 at Roanoke, Virginia.2,4,5,6 He died on October 5, 1989 at Blue Ridge, Botetourt Co., Virginia, at age 23.1,2,4,5,7 He A 23-year-old employee of General Shale Webster Inc. was killed about midnight Thursday in an accident at the Botetourt County plant, authorities said today. David Eugene Austin of Troutville was cleaning up the plant with a small front-end loader and apparently backed the loader under a conveyor belt that wasn't moving, said Jerry Caldwell, chief deputy of the Botetourt County Sheriff's Department. Austin was pinned between the two pieces of equipment and died at the scene, Caldwell said. on October 6, 1989.8 He David Eugene Austin, age 23, died Thursday. He is survived by his mother, Mary James Austin, Blue Ridge; father, Jerry Lee Austin, St. Paul; maternal grandmother, Virginia James, Salem; paternal grandmother, Mrs. John Austin, St. Paul; girlfriend, Heather Looney, Salem. Interment will follow in Glade Creek Cemetery. on October 8, 1989.1
