Born Sept. 6, 1941, at Beckley, he was the son of Oval Owen Williams of 211 Edgewood Drive and the late Evelyn Webb Williams. Mr. Williams spent his childhood on Edgewood Drive, was a 1958 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, attended Beckley College and was of the Christian faith. He was a five-year resident of Beckley, coming from Parkersburg, a lithographer who last worked for Roanoke Color Graphics in Roanoke, Va., and previously employed by BJW Printers and Central Printers. Mr. Williams served in the National Guard and in Williams his leisure time he enjoyed bowling and hunting. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patty Sue Williams in April of 1934. Other survivors include his wife, Susan Genet Williams; a daughter, Mrs. Tod (Valerie Wyrick) Snuffer of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Mrs. R.J. (Nancy K.) Lucas of 102 Oakhurst Drive; his stepmother, Frances Massie Williams of Edgewood Drive; three stepbrothers, Paul and Steven Massie, both of Beckley, and David Massie of Beaver. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Beckley. Pallbearers will be Jack, Jackie and Harold Williams, Tom Snuffer, Paul and Steve Massie and Tony Marino. on October 12, 1991.³

John Joseph "J.J." Layden Jr. (Retired Colonial Heights Police Department), 57, of Colonial Heights, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, in Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg. He was a native of Petersburg and was the son of the late John Joseph Sr. and Audrey King Layden. Mr. Layden retired from the Colonial Heights Police Department after 31 years of service, Jan. 1, 1963 through July 1, 1994. After his retirement, he joined the Colonial Heights Sheriff's Department, served on Colonial Heights Advisory Board to City Council, and served on the Colonial Heights Transportation and Safety Commission. Mr. Layden also served and was a lifetime member of the Colonial Heights Fire Department and was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He had also received many awards and citations for his recognition. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois L. Layden; his grandmother and grandfather, Carlton E. and Blanche C. King. Mr. Layden Jr. is survived by his granddaughter, Jenna W. and husband, Gerald Brinkley; a stepson, Melvin G. and wife, Jackie Mixell; a stepdaughter, Debbie and husband, Tom Mathews; a granddaughter, Christy Mixell; two grandsons, Ricky and Timmy Mixell. Burial will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. on May 25, 2002.⁷

     Constantine Frank Ruggiero was buried at Ocean County Memorial Park, 1722 Silverton Road, Toms River, Ocean Co., New Jersey.⁶ His Social Security Number was 018-10-5392.⁷ He was born on January 30, 1907 at Elena, Italy.^7,4,5,8 He married Vivian Lee Conner, daughter of Bernice Eldridge Connor and Bessie Mae Thompson, in June, 1954 at Clark Township, Union Co., New Jersey.^2,7 Constantine Frank Ruggiero died on July 24, 1995 at Dover, Ocean Co., New Jersey, at age 88.^7,3,5 He C. Frank Ruggiero, 88, of Manchester Township, died yesterday at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He was a real estate broker in the Linden-Roselle area for 20 years, retiring in 1972. Prior to that, he worked for the American Type Founders, Elizabeth. He was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Lakehurst. Mr. Ruggiero was born in Italy and came to the United States in 1909, living in Norwood, Mass., Linden and in Roselle before moving to Cedar Glen Homes in 1975. He was predeceased by his wife, Vivian L. Ruggiero. Surviving are a son, Frank T., Fanwood; two brothers, Cosmo Ruggiero, Norwood, Mass., and John Ruggiero, Las Vegas; two sisters, Rose Ruggiero, Norwood, and Nancy Penza, Walpole, Mass; and four grandchildren. on July 25, 1995.³
