Hope Leigh Newell, our precious angel went to Heaven on Friday, April 26, 2019. She was the infant daughter of John and Connie Newell of Wirtz. Along with her parents she is survived by her brothers and sisters, Gatlin, Harleigh, Tristan and Kimber; maternal grandparents, Charlie, Jr. and Gail Rutrough; and fraternal grandmother, Deborah Newell; along with numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Hope was preceded in death by her grandfather, Dennis Newell; and cousin, Ryan McGhee. Graveside services will be conducted at Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.² She was born on April 26, 2019 at Virginia.² She died on April 26, 2019 at Virginia.²

She was born May 31, 1970 the daughter of William “Charlie” Franklin Hodges and Charlotte Edna Hankins Hodges. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Ray Hodges, Larry Hodges, Roy Hodges; sister, Linda Hodges; uncle, Jack Hodges; sister-in-law, Connie Hodges. Surviving are daughter, Heather Akers; son, E. W. Akers; 3 grandchildren, Isaiah Matthews, Elijah Hubbard, Faith Hubbard; 2 brothers, Jeffery Hodges (Ora Ann), Junior Hodges; sisters, Bonnie Hodges, Darlene Hodges; sister-in-law, Elva Hodges; numerous nieces and nephews. Akers Jr. and Eleanor Rebecca Johnson, on September 26, 1987 at Ferrum, Franklin Co., Virginia.¹ Lisa Anne Hodges and Elbert Berkley Akers were divorced on August 31, 1993 at Franklin Co., Virginia.³ Lisa Anne Hodges died on August 29, 2021 at Virginia at age 50.⁴
