Fbr many years, he was a factory worker in Ohio and Florida, returning to the Athens area in 1980. He had served as a custodian for the Mercer County Board of Education until his retirement. He was a member of the Painters Chapel United Methodist Church in Speedway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Craghead; and a sister, Alice Raines. Survivors include one brother, Bobby J. Craghead and wife, Nancy of Spanishburg; a nephew who lived with him, Mark A. Shrewsbury and wife, Sue; and a host of other nephews and nieces. Honoring Mr. Craghead’s request, his body has been cremated. on July 22, 2000.4

Bob had graduated from Harvey High School in Painesville, Ohio, and had worked for the Avery International Corporation for several years in Painesville. He moved to the Spanishburg area in 1981 and opened a store in the Lake Bottom community until 1984. He then worked for the Board of Education in Mercer County as the head custodian for Spanishburg School until his retirement in 2000. For a short period of time, he along with his devoted wife were caretakers at the Zion Lutheran Church in Fairport Harbor, Ohio. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Fairport Harbor. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed sports of all kinds, but especially loved the Cleveland Indians and Browns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Ben; along with a sister, Alice Raines. Left to cherish his memory are his loving and caring wife of 46 years, Nancy Carolyn Smith Craghead; children, Robbin Walker and husband, Ronnie of Gainesville, Fla., Daniel Craghead of Fairport Harbor, Melissa Meadows of Spanishburg, and Sheila Dickerson and husband, Steven of Durham, N.C; and grandchildren, Jennifer, Rachel, Hannah, Melanie, Brandon, Ryan, and Ainsley. Burial will follow in the Athens Cemetery in Athens. on October 8, 2002.1

Craghead. Survivors: Her children and their spouses, Daniel Craghead of Mt. Airy, N.C., Robbin and Ronnie Walker of Gainesville, Fla., Melissa Meadows of Fairport Harbor, Ohio, Sheila and Steve Dickerson of Durham, N.C; seven grandchildren, Melanie Meadows, Brandon Moye, Jennifer, Rachel and Hannah Walker, Ryan and Ainsley Dickerson; one great grandchild, Madalyn Lookabill. Born August 6, 1950, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Chauncy Craghead and Mildred Pennington Craghead. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a 1968 graduate of Athens High School, and a 1969 graduate of the Executive Secretarial School in Bluefield, VA. Barbara retired with over 40 years service as an Administrative Assistant for the Mercer County Board of Education Main Office. Barbara was a member of the Athens Chapter #33 Order of the Eastern Star, Athens United Methodist Church and attended Painter's Chapel United Methodist Church in Speedway where she did the church bulletin every Sunday. She enjoyed scrap booking, cross stitching, arts, crafts, reading and most of all, was known for her quick wit, humor and intelligence. Barbara loved her family especially her three grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence G. Murphy on September 7th, 2022 and her brother, Robert Craghead. Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted children, Son, Brian Murphy and his wife Heather Kropac; Daughter, Melanie Kincaid and husband Jesse; Three grandchildren, Riddick Kincaid, Mason Murphy and Fallyn Murphy; Sister, Mona Clark; Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. The family has honored Barbara's request to be cremated. Burial will follow at a later date in the Murphy Cemetery on the Murphy Farm in Princeton.2 She was born on August 6, 1950 at West Virginia.1 As of March 24, 1973,her married name was Murphy.1 She married Lawrence Gerald Murphy on March 24, 1973 at Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.3,4,5,1,6,2 Barbara Jean Craghead died on October 5, 2022 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 72.2

Edward Gail Clark MELBOURNE, Fla. - Edward Gail Clark, 73, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 23, 2013. A native of Princeton, W.Va., Ed moved to Melbourne, Fla. in 1964 with his wife, Mona. Ed graduated from Princeton High School and joined the U.S. Navy where he served four years aboard the U.S.S. Massey. After returning home from the Navy, he was hired at North American Rockwell Co. Ed then worked for Southern Bell for over 31 years. Ed loved touring the country in his RV, work camping and enjoying the company of many friends since retiring in 1996. He also loved fishing and taking on "projects" with his son, Eric. Ed was an active member of the Suntree United Methodist Church and served as President of the National United Methodist Campers. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Beatrice Clark. He is survived by his wife Mona Craghead Clark; son Eric (Sandra); daughter, Kathy (Barry) Jennings; grandson, Travis Jennings (Stacy); granddaughters Paige and Amanda Clark; granddaughter, Allison (Warren Hershberger); great-granddaughter, Hope Clark; sister, Barbara (Bert) Bush and their family.5 He was born on May 10, 1940 at Itmann, Wyoming Co., West Virginia.4,6 He married Mona Sue Craghead, daughter of Chauncey Basil Craghead and Mildred Mae Pennington, on June 20, 1964 at Athens, Mercer Co., West Virginia.1,2,3,4,5 Edward Gail Clark died on May 23, 2013 at Melbourne, Brevard Co., Florida, at age 73.5,6

Survivors include two sons, Steven Elliot and Richard Meadows, both of Oak Hill; two daughters, Kay Meadows of Charleston and Cindy Meadows Beyer of Lake Worth, Fla; four sisters, Margaret McCamy of Lookout, Pauline Holstin of Staunton, Va., Joyce Slack of Hurricane and Freda Canterbury of Mineral Wells; and two grandchildren. Burial will be in the Athens Cemetery at Athens. on July 2, 1989.4
