Smith, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2004. Barry was born August 28, 1959 and raised in Norfolk, Va. He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca (Becky); their three children, Ashley, Brooke, and Mitchell; his mother, Rose Peters Smith; six siblings, Clarence "Butch" Smith, Bonnie Bradley, Sandra Landen, Rosemary Curtis, Robert Smith, Denise "Dee Dee" Wilkinson. He was also very close to Becky's family, which includes six brothers and sisters that he claimed for his very own. He is preceded in death by his father, Clarence L. Smith. Barry was the main cheerleader for his kids as they played soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. He was also the main cheerleader for his wife when she would sing at local churches and events. Barry was self employed as the owner of Barry L. Smith Painting, and thoroughly enjoyed serving his customers. He attended the Church of The Holy Spirit in Roanoke, Virginia where both Barry and Becky are very active. Barry also served as an unofficial greeter, hugger, and encourager at his church. He loved Christ and his relationship with him was his anchor. When Barry was not with his family or at the church, he could be found at the YMCA lifting weights with his friends, as he did for so many years. He was an avid power lifter, in the Virginia Beach area, and enjoyed a close friendship with his workout buddies. Becky and Barry began their romance on the beach, fell in love and Becky looks forward to the day they can continue their walk together again. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. on October 10, 2004.⁶

She was also preceded in death by a son, Randal Scott Lantz and a brother, Buster Hale. She was a retired bus driver for Bedford County Public Schools and was a member of Montvale Presbyterian Church. Surviving is her husband, Ronnie Lee Lantz; a son, David Michael Lantz of Montvale; a daughter, Teresa Marie Smith & friend, Mike Dalton of Montvale; four grandchildren, Dana Guess, Allison Lee, Zachary Lantz, Wesley Smith; four great grandchildren; a brother, Douglas Hale of Roanoke; and a sister, Jackie Roberts of Roanoke.      Douglas Hugh "Hugh" Hale Douglas Hugh Hale (Hugh D), 77 of Roanoke, VA passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. He was born on June 11, 1943. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was in the Vietnam War. Doug worked as a banker and retired after many years of service. He enjoyed spending time at his lake home and but most importantly he loved his family and always looked forward to spending time with them on the mountain. Doug was a loving father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed antique cars and loved animals. He always had a smile that would light up the room and had a great sense of humor that would keep everyone laughing. He never met a stranger and was well loved by everyone. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, James and Thelma Hale; sister, Peggy Lantz; brother, Thomas Lynwood Hale; Little Jimmy.      James Lee "Jimmie" Manning James Lee Manning (Jimmie) 81 of Roanoke, VA passed away on Wednesday 29, 2021. He was born on July 14, 1940. After graduating Check High School in 1959 he served his country in the Army Reserve. One of Jim’s passions was his love for vehicles (trucks, cars, boats, campers, etc.) How could you not wonder then, why he would go to work for several different trucking companies as a sales representative, after which he started his own trucking business in 1982. He retired in 2009. Jim dearly loved his family and friends. DeWeese, on November 26, 1949 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^2,3,4,6 As of November 26, 1949,her married name was Wimmer. Lucy Claudine Williams died on November 8, 2020 at Virginia at age 91.⁶ She Mrs. Lucy Claudine Wimmer, 91, of Copper Hill, Virginia, went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, November 8, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Williams, and her husband, Carl M. Wimmer Sr. Claudine is survived by her three children, Joan Nichols (Harvey), C.M. Wimmer (Ellen), and Beverley Boothe (David). Also surviving are four grandsons whom she cherished and four great-grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are Mrs. Yvonne Smith and Wilson (Pee Wee) Williams, along with several nieces and nephews.      Carl McKinley Wimmer Jr. was born on October 31, 1955 at Roanoke, Virginia.^3,4,5 He married Ellen Roberta Ryan on May 15, 1982 at Clifton Forge, Alleghany Co., Virginia.^4,5 Carl McKinley Wimmer Jr. died on November 4, 2023 at Covington, Alleghany Co., Virginia, at age 68.⁵ He Carl McKinley Wimmer, Jr., age 68, of 1447 South Carpenter Drive, Covington, Virginia died Saturday, November 4, 2023 at his residence. Carl was born October 31, 1955 in Roanoke, Virginia to the late Carl McKinley Sr. and Lucy Claudine Williams Wimmer. He was a retired mechanical designer for Westrock of Covington. He was a member of Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church, a fan of the Los Angeles Rams and the Virginia Tech Hokies. Carl loved camping, fishing, painting, drawing, woodwork, gardening, and the guitar; but most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially at the kids' games. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Ryan Wimmer; two sons, Matthew McKinley Wimmer and wife Tonya of Crozet, Virginia and Benjamin Thomas Wimmer and wife Natalie of Blacksburg; two sisters, Beverly Boothe and husband David of Vinton, and Joan Nicholas and husband Harvey of Bent Mountain, Roanoke; two grandchildren, Aubrey Wimmer and Colin Wimmer; and two special nephews, Michael Nichols and Patrick Nichols. In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.
