W., Roanoke, Virginia.3 He was born on March 25, 1923 at Hopewell, Virginia.3,7,5 He married Mary Stillman on March 26, 1949 at Hopewell, Virginia.4,8 Thomas Clinton Kirby Sr. died on September 1, 2007 at Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 84.3,7,6 He Thomas Clinton Kirby Sr., 84, of Daleville, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007. A U.S. Army veteran of WWII and Korea, Mr. Kirby was born on March 25, 1923, in Hopewell, Va. He was one of seven children born to Viola and Luther H. Kirby, Sr. In 1954, he moved his family to Roanoke when he became manager of the A&P grocery store on Salem Avenue. He was manager there until he became an agent with Home Beneficial Life Insurance Co. where he remained until his retirement. He was a member of Daleville Baptist Church where the love and support of his church family has been so important to him over the last few years. His parents, four sisters and one brother predeceased him. Those left to mourn his loss are his wife, Mary S. Kirby, children, Betty K. Grisso and husband Don, Marsha K. Faizi, Thomas C. Kirby, Jr. and wife Lynn, Karen K. Emanuelson and husband Paul; five grandchildren, Scott Grisso, Shannon Grisso and wife Mechelle, Daniel Kirby, Roxanna Faizi, Adam "Buster" Faizi. Also surviving is one brother, Luther H. Kirby, Jr. of Baltimore, Md., and many nieces, nephews and cousins who have been an important part of his life. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at Daleville Baptist Church with Pastor Andy Cobb officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family received friends on Monday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home, Daleville. The family wishes to thank everyone at Friendship Manor, especially Greg Dowdy, Norma, Misty, and all those on 2 Main for their kindness and support shown to Mr. Kirby and the family throughout his illness. on September 6, 2007.3
