Survivors include two daughters, Charlene Simpson of Eugene and Judith Moore of Myrtle Creek; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren. A grandson, Mark Simpson, died previously. The January reception will be at 1 p.m. at the Lakewood Park Clubhouse. Burial was in Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene. Rest-Haven Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene was in charge of arrangements. on November 15, 2005.2

He moved to Eugene in the early 1960s, and received a bachelor's and two master's degrees from the University of Oregon. He served in the Army. Freda Walker died on January 28, 2002 at Oregon at age 93.2,1 She A memorial service will be held Feb. 1 for Freda Walker Moore of Eugene, who died Jan. 28 of age-related causes. She was 93. Moore was born Dec. 9, 1908, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to James and Lois Fraker Walker. She attended college in Greeley, Colo. She married Melvin Moore in Greeley on April 20, 1929. He died March 22, 1988. Moore moved to Eugene in 1941. She earned a degree in education at the University of Oregon and worked 26 years as a third-grade teacher in the Bethel School District. Her interests included sewing, crocheting, quilting and camping, and she enjoyed activities with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Aristocrat Trailer Club and traveled in the United States after retirement. She also belonged to University Street Christian Church. Survivors include a son, Laurence of Lorane; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Friday's service will be at 1 p.m. at Lorane Christian Church. Inurnment will be at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene. Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Westside Christian Church or Lorane Christian Church. on January 30, 2002.1

She moved to Colorado at the age of 10. Helene graduated from New Raymer High School in 1925, and from then-Colorado State Teacher's College in 1929. She married Leo G. Scharton on Feb. 10, 1928. Both were educators in School District No. 60 in Pueblo until retirement in 1970. Helene was preceded in death by her husband, Leo G. Scharton; grandson, Darryl Scharton of Pueblo; brothers, Donald C., Viron A. and Melvin T. Moore, all of Eugene, Ore. She is survived by her son, Lawrence (Sherlan) Scharton; and daughter, Sharon (Lloyd) Smith; grandchildren, Michael Scharton, Martha (Jeff) Henderson, Daniel Smith and David Smith; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; special family member, Dan Martinez; and many members of her brothers' families, all of Oregon. Helene was an active member of Central Christian Church since 1928, which she called her "support group." She also was: a member of the Fontaine Qui Boulli Chapter of the NSDAR, where she co-wrote and co-produced first Maundy Thursday dramatization; a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher's Honorary Sorority; former board member of the YWCA, at which time she wrote and produced the first Christmas Posada in Pueblo; a former member of the first Symphony Guild in Pueblo; and the Colorado Columbine Club. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Frontier Hospice, the employees of Life Care Center, and Dr. George Birks. Smith, 68, passed away Dec. 17, 2007. Preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Lee Smith; nephew, Daryl Scharton; and parents, Lloyd and Mary Smith; and in-laws, Leo and Helene Scharton. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon; children, Martha (Jeff) Henderson of Durango, Dan and David Smith; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Mary Alice (Ron) Showalter of New Mexico; nephew, Ronald Lee Smith; and sister-in-law, Mary Smith. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Lloyd retired from CF&I Electrical Department after 41 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed playing the piano and trumpet. He also marched with the John Suzsa Band and won ribbons with his sister for tap dancing. The family would like to thank Frontier Hospice and Dr. Birks for their support and care of Lloyd, and to the staff of Life Care Center for being such a great support to Sharon. Special recognition to grandson, Ryan for always giving 100% to his grandfather. Memorial service, 2 p.m. Thursday, George McCarthy Historic Chapel. on December 19, 2007.5
