Mrs. Flippin was born in Patrick County, Va., Nov. 19, 1923, to Joe Franklin and Dessie Catherine Boles Mills. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by all her loving family. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine Collins of Stuart, Va., and Shirley and Leo Tate, Connie and Wesley Edwards, Bonnie Sechrist and Susan and Ricky Gates, all of Mount Airy; sons and daughters-in-law, Junior and Lois Flippin, Teddy and Linda Flippin and Gary and Angie Flippin, all of Mount Airy; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Opal and Harden Bowman of Stuart and Barbara Gwyn of Winston-Salem; a sister-in-law, Myra Mills of Stuart; dear friends, Shirley Sheets, Celia Mabe and Tina Holt; and several dear nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Flippin was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ernest Flippin; a brother, J. F. Mills; and two sons-in-law, Mack Collins and Jim Sechrist. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John Calhoun and the Rev. Kenneth Young. Burial will follow in Redbank Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to The Woltz Hospice Home at 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express its deep appreciation to The Woltz Hospice and to Home Health for all the tender love and care shown to Mrs. Flippin. on July 3, 2010.²
