Thom was born May 19, 1956, to James A. and Yvonne V. "Bonnie" Linehan. His father worked as a die maker for Pontiac Motors, and his mother was a court reporter and office manager for the State of Michigan. Thom was on the football and cross country teams at Royal Oak Kimball High School where he graduated in 1974. He then continued his studies at Lawrence Institute of Technology and Wayne State University, earning a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1986 and an MBA in Marketing in 1989. He was a certified Professional Engineer and a member of Eta Kappa Nu and the Society of Plastics Engineers. Thom had a long-time career as Electrical Engineering Director at DME Company, where he was awarded multiple patents for the development of innovative temperature control processes. As a recognized specialist within the injection molding industry, Thom sat on the Board for the Ferris State University Plastics Program. He also received numerous awards for technical papers he wrote and presented at conferences worldwide. Thom's sharp intellect and technological aptitude were balanced by a unique sense of wit, and a passion for music, travel, dirt biking, cats, and pyrotechnics (though generally not all at the same time). Thom is survived by his wife Anna; his children, Nathan and Mallory and their mother Laurie Rosso (Linehan) of Clarkston; his mother Yvonne "Bonnie" (Tabor) of Utica; and his brothers Ross of Ypsilanti and Timothy of Glastonbury, Conn. A memorial service will be held at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home, 46530 Romeo Plank, Macomb Twp. on Sunday, October 23 at 3 p.m., with visitation beginning at 12. Luther Waldren Galyean Luther Waldren Galyean, Jun 18, 1943 - Sep 5, 2025. Luther W. Galyean, 82, of Copper Hill, passed away on Friday September 5, 2025. Luther started with VDOT at the age of 19 working on the survey crew and moved up to construction inspector. He was most proud of his work as lead inspector on the construction of I-77 on Fancy Gap Mountain. After years as a construction inspector, he moved into the position of traffic safety and engineering. He retired in 1995 from VDOT after 33 years of service. He had a passion for antique vehicles and enjoyed restoring them and showing them at local car shows. He was preceded in death by his parents: Luther Waldren Galyean, Sr. and Lillie Mae Galyean Melton. He is survived by his wife of 42 years: Brenda Conner Galyean, of the home; daughter: Jackie Galyean, of Christiansburg; step-daughters: Dixie Young (Eddie) of Penhook, VA, April Wade (Steven) of Floyd, and their children; sisters: Carol Mae Elliott of Galax, Judy Spears (Gary) of Ennice, NC, Barbara Collins (Terry), Winston Salem, NC; several nieces and nephews. Interment will follow in Restvale Cemetery.4 He was buried at Restvale Cemetery, 7529 Rt. 221, Check, Floyd Co., Virginia.4 He was born on June 18, 1943 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.5,4 He married Brenda Ann Conner, daughter of Arthur Allen Conner and Bonnie Jasper Conner, circa 1983.1,2,6,3,7,4 Luther Waldren Galyean died on September 5, 2025 at Virginia at age 82.4
