The injured man, described by police as the owner and driver of the truck, was identified as Lorenzo Dooley, 38, of Charleston, a Negro hauling contractor. Dooley was taken to a Charleston hospital where attendants say he suffered possible fractures of the hip, shoulder, pelvis and ribs. on January 29, 1948.7 He LYCANS, Christopher Columbus — Service will be held at 1 p.m. today at the home of a son, Albert Lycans, Sugar creek. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gospel music, and being with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wandal Lykens and Goldie Yates; two brothers, Everett and Vincent Lykens; and a brother-in-law, Robert Norris. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kate Massey Lykens; twin sons, Patrick Lykens and wife, Lee Ann of Beckley, W.Va., and Michael Lykens of Whitesville, W.Va; sisters, Beulah Tincher and husband, Delbert, and Mildred Norris, all of Denver, Colo., Yvonne Goodgassel and husband, Ed, of Las Vegas, Nev; three grandchildren, PFC Amanda McPherson and husband, FC David McPherson, serving with the U.S. Army at Fort Richardson, Alaska, and James and Jason Lykens of Beckley, W.Va; several nieces, nephews; and numerous friends. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, June 27, at the Whitesville Presbyterian Church, Whitesville, W.Va., with CLP David Pettry, CLP Michael Lykens, and CLP Patrick Lykens officiating. Interment will be in the Pettry section of the Adkins Cemetery, Naoma, W.Va. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, W.Va., and one hour before the service at the church. on June 26, 2005.2

Born May 20, 1926, at Edwight, she was the daughter of Wood Lee Massey and Carrie Thelma Dodson Massey Richards. Kate attended Marsh Fork High School. She had been employed at the Edwight Company Store, American Hardware in Whitesville, and served as Head Teller for many years at the main branch of Whitesville State Bank. She most recently volunteered at the Good Samaritan Thrift Store in Whitesville, where she enjoyed visiting with members of the community. She was a member of Whitesville Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed taking part in Sunday school. Kate loved to dance, cook, camp, hunt and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kate married Fred Lykens on Dec. 24, 1945. Fred preceded her in death on June 24, 2005. Kate was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Billie Virginia Massey, and a sister, Ella Richards Hamrick. She is survived by her twin sons, Michael of Whitesville, and Patrick of Logan; daughter-in-law Lee Ann Stover Lykens of Ceredo; three grandchildren, Amanda Ciochetty and her companion, Matt Shamblin, of Crab Orchard; James Patrick (Jimmy) Lykens and his wife, Chelsie, of Nashville, Tenn; and Jason Lee Lykens of Ceredo; four great-grandchildren, Kamryn Jeanette McPherson and Gavin Matthew McPherson of Crab Orchard, Evangeline Kate Lykens, due to arrive at any time in Nashville, Tenn., and Mary Brianna Shamblin, due in April; three sisters, Betty Massey Sheppard and her husband, Michael, of Phoenix, Ariz., Patsy Richards Persinger and her husband, Donnie, of Richwood, and Frannie Richards Conrad and her husband, Wayne, of Virginia; a special cousin, George Cantley of Whitesville; special friends, Bonnie and Gary Jarrell and Regina Jarrell, all of Eunice; Judith Davis of Beaver, Barbara Dickens and Dorothy Coffey of Whitesville. The family would like to thank Dr. Aziz, the wonderful nurses and staff of 7 South at CAMC General, and the staff at Hubbard Hospice House for taking care of our precious Kate. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Whitesville Presbyterian Church with ALP Michael Lykens officiating. Burial will follow at Adkins Cemetery, Naoma.      Michael Lee Lykens was born on November 5, 1956 at West Virginia.2 He died on October 5, 2016 at Eunice, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 59.2 He Michael Lee Lykens, 59, of Eunice, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at his home following an extended illness. Born November 5, 1956, Michael was the son of the late Frederick Earl Lykens and Kate Pauline Massey Lykens. He was a 1975 graduate of Marsh Fork High School, a graduate of Beckley College, a 1979 graduate of Concord College with a BA in Social Studies Education, and a graduate of WV College of Graduate Studies (Marshall University) with a MA in Special Education. He was employed by the Raleigh County Board of Education for 36 years, working at Pettus Elementary, Marsh Fork High School and Liberty High School. He also coached volleyball, girls basketball and softball, sponsored the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Model UN clubs at Liberty High School. He was also employed as an Authorized Lay Preacher for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A). Michael was a member of the Whitesville Presbyterian Church, where he was a Pastor and sang in the choir. He loved to dance, listen to music, cook, travel, fish and spend time with the family, especially the children. Those left to cherish his memory include his twin brother, Patrick of Logan; a sister-in-law, Lee Ann Lykens of Cerado; one niece, Amanda Ciochetty of Beaver; children, Kamryn, Gavin and Brie; two nephews, James Patrick Lykens (Chelsie Haynes) and their children, Evangeline and Clara; and Jason Lee Lykens (Natalie Campbell); three aunts, Patsy Persinger (Donnie) of Richwood, Betty Shepard (Michael) of Phoenix, Arizona and Mildred Norris, several cousins and many friends and former students. Michael's niece and nephews are eternally grateful for his role in their lives. on October 7, 2016.2
