Ron was born in Roanoke, VA, December 3, 1946, a son of Hubert and June Palmer. He was a retried telecommunications technician and an avid Duke and NASCAR fan. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Terry Palmer. Surviving are his wife, Linda Palmer; his mother; two sons, Tim Bolin and David Dickerson; a daughter, Melanie Wallace and her husband Jamie; two sisters, Patricia Hallahan and Her husband Patrick and Ronda McReynolds and her husband Ron; brother-in-law, Billy Beal and wife Liz; several grandchildren, the special loves of his life, Josie and Lil Girl, and many special friends.² He married Linda Unknown.² Ronald Hubert "Ron" Palmer was born on December 3, 1946 at Roanoke, Virginia.^2,3,4,6 He married Phyllis Sue Craig on May 11, 1967 at Spray, Rockingham Co., North Carolina.⁵ Ronald Hubert "Ron" Palmer and Phyllis Sue Craig were divorced on March 10, 1980 at Roanoke, Virginia.⁶ Ronald Hubert "Ron" Palmer married Joan Ann Robinson on September 20, 1986 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.³ Ronald Hubert "Ron" Palmer died on March 2, 2016 at Davidson Co., North Carolina, at age 69.²

Per Kathys wishes, her body was cremated and there will be no services at this time. Arrangements are by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, Iowa. Survivors include her husband of forty-eight years, Bob; her children, Robert Hendricks Jr. and Kelly Hendricks, both of Central City, Iowa; three grandchildren, Alexander, Christopher and Morgan; a brother, Donny (Sue) Mountcastle of Salem, Virginia; two sisters, Barbara (Len) Woods of Salem, Virginia, and Sharon Bashem of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Mountcastle; and a sister-in-law, Lea Mountcastle. Kathy was born July 28, 1939, in Salem, Virginia, to Russell and Thelma (Palmer) Mountcastle. Kathy attended Roanoke Business College and married Robert Hendricks on April 26, 1958, in Salem. Kathy and Bob owned and operated the Country Store in Central City since 1979. She was a member of the National Poets Society and was recognized in the National Whos Who of American Poets. Kathy was a very happy person who dearly loved life and her family, especially her children and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established at City State Bank in Central City, Iowa, in Kathys memory. on May 28, 2006.⁴

Mountcastle, 72, of Salem, passed away Friday, September 25, 2015. He was born in Indiana, a son of the late Russell and Thelma Palmer Mountcastle, and had been an area resident for most of his life. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and then served in the National Guard for an additional 12 years. He was employed at National Pools prior to retiring. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Susan Price Mountcastle; a son, Scott Mountcastle and wife, Tina; a granddaughter, Kayla Hope; his sister, Barbara Woods and husband, Leonard; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. on September 27, 2015.⁴

She was a member of Willis United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Kenneth Basham. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny and Kimberly Basham, Floyd, Mike and Shawyna Basham, Willis, Kris and Diana Basham, Florida; six grandchildren, Devin Basham, Mandy Basham, Taylor Basham, Samantha Basham, Morgan Basham, Shaun Basham; sister, Barbara Wood, Salam; brother, Donnie Mountcastle, Salem; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gardner Funeral Home with the Rev. Lawrence Nuckolls officiating. Passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017. He was born in Floyd County on April 4, 1927, the son of the late Frazier and Minnie Kelley. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dalton B. Kelley and Ausborne P. Kelley. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II on Guam in the Southern Pacific: The Greatest Generation. He was an active member of the Floyd United Methodist Church. Alvis was a Retired Captain of the Roanoke City Fire Department, with over 32 years of service. He was a member of the Firemen's Local 1132 Union for 32 years. He treasured the friendship of his Brother Firefighters. Alvis and his love of music was heard by many when he played his guitar, banjo, and mandolin for family and friends. After retirement, he became a gentleman farmer. Spending many hours enjoying his farm, raising cattle, and a garden, when he was not fishing and hunting on his farm named: "Pine Hill Farm". He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 46 years, Mary Lou Burgess Kelley; son, Michael E. Kelley and wife, Johnnie of Roanoke; grandson, Travis Kelley and wife, Laura; great grandchildren, Hayden and Jack Kelley of Stokesdale, N.C; granddaughter: Amanda Lace Robinson and husband, Stan; great grandsons, Alexander, William and Brendon of Rocky Mount, Va., Grandson Randy Burdette and wife, Debbie; great grandchildren, Eric and Ashley Burdette of Christiansburg, Va; brother-in-law, Charles E. Burgess and wife, Virginia of Lynchburg, Va; best friend, James L. Wimmer; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. Alvis will be laid to rest in the family cemetery above rolling pasture fields on his farm. Interment will be at a later date in the Kelley Family Cemetery.
