It was there she met her future husband and baritone, Joseph, while attending music lessons. Norma earned a Bachelor's degree in Music from Radford College. She further earned her Master's degree in Education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. She moved from her childhood home in Salem to Charles County, Md. with her new husband in 1958. Over the years, Norma was employed as a music educator in both Charles and Prince George's Counties, Md., but her primary vocation was as Music Director at La Plata United Methodist Church in La Plata, Md. from 1969 to 1996. Norma Wilbourne is survived by her husband, Joseph Wilbourne Sr; her sister, Iris Jo Harley, of Columbia, S.C; her three children, Julia Davis, of Charlotte Hall, Md., Joseph (Jay) Wilbourne Jr., of Relay, Md., and Jonathan Wilbourne, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C; and her two grandchildren, Hannah and David. Interment will take place at La Plata United Methodist Church Cemetery in Dentsville, Md. on May 16, 2012.²

He was 82 years old. Joe was born July 13, 1931 in Roanoke, VA to Martin Thomas and Esther C. Hall Wilbourne. He was a graduate of Andrew Lewis High School in Salem, VA where he played football and enjoyed singing baritone in school and community events. It was there that he met his future wife Norma E. Cundiff, who was the drum major and his accompanist at vocal performances. He is survived by his three children, Julia W. Davis of Charlotte Hall, MD, Joseph (Jay) Wilbourne, Jr. of Relay, MD, and Jonathan (Jon) Wilbourne of Mt. Plesant, SC; his sister, Mary Louise Terry of FL; and his two grandchildren, Hannah E. Davis and David G. Wilbourne. Joe attended Roanoke College after high school but then entered into the U.S. Army in July 1953 and served until June 1956. His most pleasant memories were his time spent in Europe where he was stationed in Germany. His primary duty there was working as a communication’s analyst. Upon his return to the States, Joe married Norma and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1961. He and Norma then moved from their childhood home of Southwest VA to Charles County, MD. Joe and Norma lived in Bryans Road, MD for 50 years. He worked at the Naval Ordinance Station in Indian Head, MD for 34 years as an engineer in the Safety Department. Over the years, Joe was involved in his community as a Boy Scout leader and Little League manager. He remained active in his love of music and sang in the Chancel Choir of the La Plata United Methodist Church for many years. Joe also worked to begin the church’s hand bell choir and served as its first director. Interment to follow at the La Plata United Methodist Church Cemetery in Dentsville, MD. on May 21, 2014.³

Iris Jo was a graduate of Mars Hill College, Hollins University, The University of South Carolina and South Carolina State University. She was the Choral Director at Irmo High School for 25 years until her retirement and also retired from Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church as organist in August 2014, following 36 years of service. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Rev. Raymond E. Harley, II; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Norma C.      Rev. Raymond Eugene Harley II was buried at Saint Johns Lutheran Church Cemetery, Irmo, Richland Co., South Carolina.^2,5 He A Celebration of Life for the Rev. Raymond E. Harley II, 80, will be held Sunday in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Irmo with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev. Harley died Monday, July 27, 2015. Born in Knoxville, Tenn., he was the son of the late Raymond E. Harley and Anna Louise Fox Harley. Pastor Harley received his Master’s of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary and was a Lutheran Minister for 46 years. Among the congregations he served were St. Paul’s and Ebenezer Lutheran Churches of Columbia, Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church of West Columbia and St. John’s Lutheran Church of Irmo. He was an accomplished musician and organist as well as a compassionate pastor. All his family and friends recognized his unique and enthusiastic ability to engage people in music, theater, school musical activities, as well as church work. He was an Army veteran and enjoyed his participation in the Irmo Navy. Surviving are his nephew, Michael Petree, and nieces, Anne and Debbie Petree, all of Knoxville, Tenn. Paul grew up in the Malden area and was a 1961 graduate of Dupont High School, where he played the tuba in the marching band. During his high school years, he was employed by the Holbrook Supermarket in Malden. After high school, Paul enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Meade, Md., and Berlin, Germany, where he was a member of the 298th U.S. Army Band. Paul was formerly a fireman for the Malden Volunteer Fire Department and manager/coach of the Belle Bulldogs Midget Football League. He was a member of the Dupont High School Alumni Band. During his career, he was employed by Kroger, FMC, and in 1998, he retired from E.I. Dupont, where he was a welder with more than 25 years of service. Paul was a Christian and a member of the Fair Haven Baptist Church and Dry Branch Community Church. Paul's favorite pastimes were traveling, camping and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He was a loving husband, loyal friend to many and an amazing and beloved grandfather. His sense of humor, his quick wit and his constant attention to the needs of others will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Karen, to whom he meant the world; and by his children, Paul Daniel Dixon of Nitro, Melissa Kay Walker and her husband, Charlie, of Alum Creek; stepchildren, LeAnne and Carlos Neccuzi of Charleston, Chris and Lori Roberts of Martinsburg, and Greg Roberts of Atlanta, Ga; grandchildren, Morgan and Logan Neccuzi, Cade and Kylie Roberts, Joshua, Brandon and Timothy Walker; sisters, Juanita "Tootle" Lucas of Mill Creek, Helen "Dimple" White and husband, Mike, of Piedmont, S.C; brother, Johnny Dean "JD" Dixon and wife, Joy Lee of St. Albans; brother-in-law, Norman Baber of Dunbar; mother-in-law, Nina Gibson of Cross Lanes; father-in-law, Charles Wayne Gibson, also of Cross Lanes; nieces, Zondra Dixon, Tammy Lester, Tonya Dunlap, Johanna Dixon, Angie Gonzalez, Michelle White and Robin Wendell; nephews, Les Lucas, Rick Lucas and Michael Douglass. Paul is also survived by several loving aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and nephews. Wyatt L. "Pude" Lucas, 58, had just dragged the buck from a wooded area to a nearby road when he returned to his group's hunting cabin and collapsed, Roane County Coroner Don Smith said. Formerly of Rand, Lucas suffered a heart attack at the cabin, which had no telephone, Smith said. Paramedics arrived on the scene too late, and Smith pronounced Lucas dead at the cabin. Lucas, of Mill Creek, was hunting in the Looneyville area of Roane County when he suffered the heart attack at about 4 p.m. Wednesday. He was a retired produce manager for Kroger Co. with 32 years' service and a member of the Raleigh County Commission and Beckley Motor Speedway Hall of Fame. He attended Hanson Chapel Church and formerly attended First Church of Nazarene, Rand. He was a founder of Lucas Motor Sports Co. and a 1956 graduate of DuPont High School. Surviving: wife, Juanita Dixon "Tootle" Lucas; sons, Wyatt Leslie II of Rand, Paul Richard "Rick" of Mill Creek; sisters, Joyce Bass of Malden, Drema Kay Jarrell of Valparaiso, Ind; brothers, Charles Paul Lucas of Poca, William A. "Arbie" Lucas and Jessie Edward "Eddie" Lucas, both of Malden; granddaughter, Courtney Francis Lucas of Rand. Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with the Rev. He was born June 6, 1943 and was one of five children. John graduated from DuPont High School in 1961 and served as a paratrooper along with his brother, Paul, who served as an army band member. He then became a police officer in Florida. JD also worked at the DuPont plant in Belle. John was also a former CPA and a member of the South Charleston Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Paul Dixon; brother, Paul Leonard Dixon; sister, Ruth Ann Dixon Baber. Surviving is his wife of 30 years, Joy Lee Dixon; sisters, Juanita "Tootle" Lucas, Helen "Dimple" White (Mike); children, Zondra Dillard (Greg), Tonya Dunlap, Tammie Dixon (Tom), Johnna Dixon, Mike Douglas and Robin Wendell (Roger): grandchildren, Michelle, Laura (Allen), Tiana, Paul, Holly, Ivy, Dustin, Whitney, Bree, Zane, Kane, Kole; four great-grandchildren. He had a special place in his heart for Dalton Lucas. John's final wish was to be cremated with no memorial service.
