Ann Lee Hemmings was buried at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.6 She was born on May 21, 1938 at Belle, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.3 As of January 23, 1960,her married name was Preston.2 She married Joseph Edward Preston on January 23, 1960 at Glasgow, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.2 As of circa 1962,her married name was Hammack.3 Ann Lee Hemmings married Terry Hammack circa 1962.3 Ann Lee Hemmings died on March 25, 2018 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 79.3 She With great sorrow the Hammack family announces that Ann Lee Hammack (née Hemmings) unexpectedly passed into the arms of Jesus on March 25, 2018. Ann Lee was born May 21, 1938, in Belle, WV, to Macel Olive (Tucker) and Ira Lawrence Hemmings. Ann graduated from Nitro High in 1956, and in 1959 graduated from the St. Francis School of Nursing, with additional studies at the University of Charleston (formerly Morris Harvey College), West Virginia State University and Marshall University. Throughout her 47 years of service to the community, Ann Lee Hammack held various titles, a pioneer of her industry. As the Director of Nursing for the Salvation Army, Ann liked to joke that the mother did the delivering; she just caught the babies, and she was quite good at it as she did it several hundred times. Her title at the time of her retirement was Coordinator of Continuing Education. Ann Lee met the love of her life while working as the Nurse Supervisor for the WV Rehabilitation Center's Infirmary. Ann was swept away by Terry Hammack, a love that has been a constant source of inspiration and awe for the entirety of their 51 1/2 years of marriage. With a full heart bent towards service, Ann would go on to become the Director of Nursing at Job Corps, Director of Pharmacy at St. Francis, Director of Marketing at St. Francis, a Nurse Recruiter, the Coordinator of the "Ask a Nurse" program, Director of the Physician Relations Department, and would teach at the Ben Franklin Career Vocational Technical School. Several of her students went on to have successful careers in the medical field under her training. Ann implemented several programs to better her community, such as the St. Francis 5k Run and the now national Doctor's Day. She coordinated the annual Christmas Ball for St. Francis Hospital. Ann created the first journalism publications for St. Francis: The Messenger and The Newsbeat MD. Ann was the recipient of several service awards, including Outstanding Volunteer from the Charleston Chamber of Commerce. Ann was an avid sports fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. She was a proud WVU Mountaineer fan, and loved nothing better than to don her blue and gold and watch the games. Ann Lee Hammack was a follower of Jesus, and worshipped with her husband at their church, the South Charleston First Church of the Nazarene. Ann was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Terry Hammack; one son, Mark (Mary Anne) Hammack; and one brother, Dr. Larry (Francis) Hemmings. She has five grandchildren: Mark Hammack II, Amanda (Ryan) Lathigee, Michael (Amal) Hammack, Melissa Hammack and Matthew Hammack. Her great-grandchildren whom she adored are Brendan, Alex, Kaytlin, Olivia, Logan, Jackson, Abraham, Miriam, Jacen and Chloe. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. on March 27, 2018.3

Alma Lucille Settle Lucille Settle Walker was born Oct. 10, 1924, in Ward, W.Va. to Frank and Ida Mae Paxton Settle, both members of the Shrewsbury Church of God. She was saved and baptized in the Holy Spirit; water baptized in the Kanawha River and joined the church in 1933, all before her 10th birthday. She was called into full-time service for God at a prayer meeting while still in high school in 1942. Just before high school graduation, the Lord spoke clearly to her, "Following graduation, I want you to go to the Slaughter's Creek Baptist Church across the river and conduct a revival." The Lord honored her obedience with people coming to salvation and renewed commitments to the Lord in a packed out two-week meeting. That fall her brother, Rancel, gave her the $100 she needed to go to Bible Training School in Sevierville. While studying at Bible Training School, 1942-1945, she worked in the president's office and taught students needing to complete high school. During vacations and breaks she evangelized with Helen Gleason in North Dakota, conducting evening revival services, DVBS during the day, and holding street meetings on Saturdays. She also taught in Pennsylvania in Dr. Brinsfield's summer schools. She studied Spanish at the University of Mexico while working as secretary to the COG director of Mexico. In May 1944, she received her ordained ministers license No. 6990 with the Church of God. After completing her associated of arts as valedictorian of her class at B.T.S., she attended Scarritt College in Nashville, earning her bachelor of arts degree in social work and Christian Education in 1947. Later she went to George Peabody College earning her masters of arts in teaching in 1955. During this time, J. Herbert Walker Jr. earned his master's of divinity degree at Vanderbilt University. He and Lucille rode the bus together to attend services at the Meridian Street Church of God. They became close friends and after graduation on Aug.29, 1947, were married at her home church in Cedar Grove, W. Va. Two weeks after their wedding on Sept, 15, 1947, she and Herbert were sent by the Church of God World Missions to Haiti for teaching and supervisory work as missionaries until 1953. They were blessed with two daughters: Sharon Dianne and Crystal Deana during this time. From 1953-1957 they moved to San Antonio, Texas, and Lucille taught in the public school system while Herbert was assistant superintendent of Latin America. Later in 1969 they moved to New York City and ministered with C.U.R.E. Corps (Collegiate Urban Renewal Effort), an inner city ministry of the Rev. David Wilkerson. Then in 1970-1976 she and Herbert served as missionaries to Europe and the Middle East. From 1976-1988 they traveled extensively in ministry while Herbert was coordinator of World Missions Education outside the USA, assistant director and then director of World Missions. She led and taught in STEP trips as part of the COG Youth Department's mission outreach. She studied and evangelized in a Crossroads Discipleship Training School with Youth with a Mission and went on several mission trips with Men and Women of Action. In 1998, she was selected "Lady Minister of the Year" by Evangelism and Home Missions Department in recognition of her 54 years of ministry at home and abroad. Education has been an important area of ministry for her. She taught in public schools in Nashville and San Antonio. While on the faculty of Lee University, she was a librarian and taught English and Speech from 1957-1962. She was director of student activities from 1978-1980 and director of Title IV, a federal grant program for tutoring students at risk from 1980-1987. She received the "Distinguished Alumni Award" in 1985 from Lee University. In 1962-1967, at the Church of God Publishing House, she was the editor of youth literature and wrote the "Devotional" in the Church of God Evangel. She has given significant service to her community. In 1967-1969 she organized and directed the "War on Poverty" Bradley/Cleveland Community Action. It was awarded the Outstanding Community Action Agency in the Southeast USA. She counseled youth in C.U.R.E. Corps in New York City and in various COG Youth Camps through-out the USA, trained and counseled for a 24-hour Telephone Crisis Intervention ministry, trained and worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant and facilitated groups for Grief Support in Cleveland. She has been a member of the boards of Church of God Home for Children, Curriculum Commission of the National Association of Evangelicals and Family Life Commission. She was the author of numerous articles and materials. She co-authored two works with her husband, "Haiti" and "God's Living Room" and wrote two books on prayer, "What to Do When You Pray" and "Lord, "Teach Us to Pray." Since its beginning in 1986, she has been a member of the Church of God Prayer Commission. In August 2004 she was awarded the "Anna Award" for her contribution in prayer efforts for the Church of God. Since 1989 Lucille has also been an active member of the World Missions Personnel Committee. Her lifelong companion, Dr. Rev. J.
