     Robert Wade 'Bob" Martin Sr. Robert “Bob” Martin, 99, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, April 8, 2020. He was born June 5, 1920 to Gaspard M. Martin and Clara Nichols Stamback in Patrick County. He was a marksman in the U.S. Army during WWII, participating in the campaign of France and Germany, where he was wounded on the front line. He earned two bronze stars and a purple heart. After returning from the war, he went into his dream job of refinishing and rebuilding automobiles. He was employed the longest at Berglund Chevrolet, starting there when it was Diamond Chevrolet. He later enjoyed going to work for Grumman Emergency, where he retired. Robert was a long-time member of Rockingham Court United Methodist Church where he enjoyed working with the youth for many years. He loved his church and church family and just spending time with them. In his spare time, he enjoyed drawing and reading. He especially enjoyed reading the Bible over and over.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Reverend and Mrs. Christian (Louise) Wickham, wife Virginia Marie Wickham Martin, brothers Frank H. Martin and George W. Martin, sister Janie Stamback Montague and son-in-law Larry E. Skeens. Left to cherish his memory are his children, sons Robert W. Martin, Jr.- Roanoke, Billy W. Martin (Becky)-Blue Ridge and daughter Patricia (Pat) Martin Skeens - Roanoke, brothers Archie (Ursel) Martin of Vinton, Nelson (Pat) Martin of Wirtz, and sister Millie (Glenn) Brown of College Station, Texas. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Robin Belcher–California, Robert Creasy-Covington, Kevin Martin-PA, Allison Doss (Chris)-Roanoke, Billy Martin Jr-Blue Ridge, Tammy Faw-Vinton and Scott Faw (Tiffany)-Roanoke. His is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. Because of the current pandemic, a private graveside service will be held on Friday, April 10. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Pheasant Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center for the care given to Mr. Martin during his stay there.³ He was born on June 5, 1920 at Patrick Co., Virginia.³ He married Virginia Marie Wickham, daughter of Christian Hezekiah Wickham Sr. and Louise Ella Conner, on June 8, 1940 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,2,3 Robert Wade 'Bob" Martin Sr. died on April 8, 2020 at Virginia at age 99.³

He was a driver for MidWest Transit and served in the United States Air Force during Viet Nam. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Skeens, and is survived by his wife, Patricia Martin Skeens; sons and daughters-in-law, Jon Paul and Bobbi Jo Skeens, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Scott and Tiffany Faw, Salem; daughters and son-in-law, DeAnna and Dave Myers, Clinton, Ohio, Tamara Faw, Roanoke; grandchildren, Victoria and Shannon Myers, Anthony Faw, Bobby and Nicole Duke; his father, Orville G. Skeens, Clinton, Ohio; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Marie Martin, Roanoke; brothers-in-law, Bobby Martin and friend, June Massey, Thaxton, Billy Martin and wife, Becky, Blue Ridge. A funeral service will be held at Rockingham Court United Methodist Church Thursday, August 27, 10 a.m., with the Rev. Jo Ellen Hetherington officiating. Interment in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Larry requested donations be made to the Piano Fund at Rockingham Court United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. on August 26, 1998.³

     Elwanda Lucille Oxley and Ronald Keith "Brownie" Brown were divorced.^2,4 Elwanda Lucille Oxley was buried at Bird Cemetery, Putnam Co., West Virginia.^2,3 She was born on July 4, 1939 at St. Albans, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.^2,5,3 As of June 25, 1957,her married name was Brown.¹ She married Ronald Keith "Brownie" Brown, son of Earley Irven "Earl" "Early" Brown and Vanie Dicena "Dicie" Parks, on June 25, 1957 at Hurricane, Putnam Co., West Virginia.¹ Elwanda Lucille Oxley died on December 2, 2010 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 71.^2,5,3 She Surrounded by family, Elwanda Lucille Oxley Brown died December 2, 2010, at Thomas Memorial Hospital after complications from a long illness. She was 71. Elwanda was born July 4, 1939, in St. Albans. She grew up in Putnam County and graduated from Hurricane High School. Later, she achieved her dream of becoming an RN when she completed her degree at Morris Harvey College. She was a registered nurse at Thomas Memorial Hospital for seventeen years before she moved to Texas. She practiced nursing for another two years before an accident ended her career. Elwanda confronted her physical liabilities with steadfast dignity. Chronic pain did not keep her from her friends, family, or hobbies. She was quick to help her neighbors and friends with everything, from acting as chauffeur for a neighbor, to babysitting a grandchild, to preparing a feast. Besides her family, Elwanda found joy in art and social networking. For years, she painted with the senior citizen groups in Nitro and Hansford, completing hundreds of works in oil and acrylic. Elwanda is preceded in death by her parents, Virgie Alva Edwards and Oral Homer Oxley; and her sister, Aredith Athalee Oxley. She is survived by her siblings and their spouses, Jeanette and Jerry Withrow of Hurricane, Janice and Larry Sayer of Nitro, Diane Serjern of Kenosha, Wis., and Paul and Carolyn Oxley of Hurricane. In addition, she leaves three children and their spouses, Sharon and Bill Stark of Henderson, N.C., Leland and Mara Brown of St. Albans, and Devonne Parsons of Red House. Elwanda also leaves her six grandchildren, Luke Stark, Anderson Stark, Nick Parsons, Ian Parsons, Leland Brown II, and Marlee Brown. Gracie, her beloved four-legged companion, will also miss her greatly. Burial will follow in Bird Cemetery, Hurricane. on December 4, 2010.²
