The former Ruth Paul was born July 4, 1920, in Escanaba, daughter of the late Adolph Paul and Helena (Schmelter) Paul. She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1938. She worked at Escanaba Paper Co. until moving from Escanaba to Iron Mountain to 1951. Ruth Hartline was the secretary and organist at Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. She was currently a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain and the Ladies Guild. Ruth was a former member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingsford, where she played the organ for 35 years. She enjoyed music, sewing and reading. She married S.R. "Bud" Hartline, on May 30, 1948, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Ruth Hartline was survived by her husband, S.R. "Shutters" Hartline; two sons, Ralph Hartline of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Robert Hartline (Katie) of Edina, Minn; two daughters, Shirley (Ken) Schepler of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Margaret (Michael) Petrick of Kingsford; two sisters, Gertrude (Anthony) Collura of Brown Deer, Wis., and Irma (Richard) Johnson of Freeport, Ill; a brother, J.A. Paul of Swartz Creek, lower Michigan; six grandchildren, Daniel, Andrew, and Emily Schepler, George Cutchins, and Chelsie and Angela Hartline; three step-grandchildren, Stephanie (Mark) Martinucci, Stephen Petrick and Scion Petrick, and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, Edward Hartline, and a sister, Dorothy Paul.3 She was buried at Iron Mountain Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain, Dickinson Co., Michigan.5 She was born on July 4, 1920 at Escanaba, Delta Co., Michigan.4,2,5,3 She married Shirley Ralph "Shutters" Hartline, son of Edward Blaine Hartline and Jennie Florence Elmore, on May 30, 1948 at Escanaba, Delta Co., Michigan.1,2,3 As of May 30, 1948,her married name was Hartline.1 Ruth R. He Samuel D. Hamilton Jr., Born September 26, 1914, in Akron, Ohio, was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Mary; wife, Frances (mother of his children) and brothers, Dick and Bill. He is survived by wife, Mary; children, Sam (Debbi), Marla Cummins (Dave), Shelly (Mike) Karl, Sylvia (Mike) Matheos, Kim (Ron) Jenkins; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Mary) and sister, Mary Ann (Richard) Backderf. He is also survived by step-daughters, Shirley (Bob) Casey, Jackie (Kris) Hovey and Pat (Alan) Spitzer. Growing up, Sam lived in several southern states where his Dad built churches and schools. His military service in World War II began in the cavalry where he patrolled the Mexican border on horseback. He later became a gilder pilot instructor and taught aerial gunnery in bombers at Savannah, Ga. Sam worked for Firestone for thirty years as a pipe fitter and taught hydraulics and pneumatics at Akron University for Firestone. Sam enjoyed ballroom dancing and traveling. He visited Europe three times, Alaska and Cayman Islands and made many trips to Florida, as well as throughout the U.S. The family wishes to thank St. Luke Community on Turkeyfoot Lake for their kind and loving care and Crossroads Hospice for their wonderful care. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. on November 7, 2010.2
