He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and served for a year as supervisor of Dion Auditorium of St. Patrick's School. He was a third and fourth degree member of the Franklin Knights of Columbus. Mr. Coffey also belonged to the Titusville Lodges of the Moose and Elks Clubs and also the Erie Eagles Club and Greek American Club, of Erie. The body was taken to the Gabrys Brothers Funeral Home, where friends may call and where the rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. today. Father Urban S. Barrett, pastor of St. Patrick's Church, will be the celebrant of the requiem mass Saturday morning. Following the mass, the body will be taken to the Brugger and Sons Funeral Home in Erie. Interment will be made Monday in the Calvary Cemetery in Erie. on February 27, 1959.2

Born March 31, 1901, in Pine City, Elk Township, she was a daughter of John and Mollie Swartzfager Rex. She was married August 6, 1923, to Amos L. Dolby, who survives. Mrs. Dolby was a homemaker. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Ruth Henry of Clarion and Esther Stewart of Riverside, Calif; two brothers, Russell Rex of Clarion RD and Ben Rex of Shippenville RD. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Leonard and Arnold Dolby; one daughter, Lois Johnson; two grandsons; one sister; and four brothers. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at the Goble Funeral Home in Clarion. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Rev. William Hopkins, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene in Titusville, and Rev. James Thomas, a retired minister of the Zion Baptist Church, Reidsburg, officiating. Mr. Henry was employed as a welder until his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Larry Henry of Bergettstown and Ronald Henry of Clarion; two daughters, Jean Seybert of Clarion and Debby Walker of Jefferson, Ohio; three brothers, Lee G. Henry of Clarion, F. Glenn Henry of Alliance, Ohio, and Samuel Reeves Henry of Limestone; three sisters, Garnet McHenry of Sligo RD 1, Doris Perry of Erie and Dona Smith of Clarion; and 12 grandchildren. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Henry, and a sister, Joan Bryant. Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Globe Funeral Home here with the Rev. Clayton Harriger, a Methodist minister of Belsano, officiating. Interment was in the Clarion Cemetery. Editor’s Note: Uncle Clare’s name was not spelled “Clair” as reported in the obituary above. The Rev. Leonard Dolby, Jr., 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos L. Dolby of Clarion, R. D., died in the wreckage of his plane which he had intended to fly to Clarion from a Lock Haven airport. Aeronautical Inspector Corporal Earl Moore of the state police said Dolby apparently was flying at about 600 feet in rainy, foggy weather after taking off Thursday night from Lock Haven. Corp. Moore stated the pilot apparently failed to see a sudden rise in the terrain and the plane struck some trees and crashed. The tragedy occurred five miles from the airport from which Dolby had started his course. Dolby, nephew of V. S. Dolby of Hasson Heights, held a Second Lieutenant commission in the U. S. Army Reserve Corps and did considerable flying in his own light plane. The aircraft had been at the Lock Haven airport for an overhauling operation, according to members of Dolby's family. He is reported to have left the Lock Haven port at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The wreckage was discovered shortly after noon Saturday. A son of Amos L. and Lamirna Rex Dolby, Leonard Dolby was born October 30, 1928, in Shippenville. He was a graduate of Clarion Limestone high school and Lehigh University and was a member of the Lehigh Alumni Association. He was a member of the Clarion Free Methodist church; Clarion lodge, F. and A. M., Coudersport Consistory and Zem Zem Temple of Erie; Elks lodge' of Reynoldsville. In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters and a brother, Mrs. Claire Henry of Shippenville, R. D., Mrs. Esther Stewart of Ashtabula, O., and Arnold and Lois at home. Also surviving is his grandmother, Mrs. Mollie Rex of Shippenville, R. D. The body was taken to the Goble funeral home, Clarion. on April 19, 1954.3

State police reported the victim, Arnold E. Dolby of Clarion RD 2, was hit in the chest by the stray bullet while hunting in a woodod area of Monroe Township, a mile south of Clarion and a mile west of Route 68. The shooting occurred and death resulted instantly at 3:40 p.m. Clarion County Coroner Robert V. Burns was at the scene. He ruled accidental death from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was found by the hunter who shot him, Dennis McLaughlin of Clarion, a teacher at Union Joint High School in Rimersburg and a school basketball coach. McLaughlin left the scene to seek assistance. The investigation was conducted by Pennsylvania State Police, the Game Commission and the Clarion County Coroner's Office. Mr Dolby, in addition to his law practice, had extensive property holdings in Clarion County. Including the Pennsylvania State Police Barracks at Shippenville, the Rahne Building and Department of Welfare Building in Clarion and the properly occupied by Clarion Intermediate Unit. He was a partner in a coal firm, Clarion Reality Co. Arnold E. Dolby was born May 3, 1930, in Elk Township, Clarion County, a son of Amos L., and LaMyrna Rex Dolby. He was married August 16, 1952, to the former Nancy Jane George of New Bethlehem. She survives. He graduated in 1947 from Clarion Limestone High School at Strattanville and attended Asbury College before enrolling at Duquesne University where he graduated in 1952. Three years later, in 1955, he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Law School where he was a scholar of achievement and, in recognition, was on the staff of the University of Pittsburgh Law Review. He was a member of the Phi Delia Phi Law Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Air Force for two years in the Strategic Air Command at Lorlng Air Force Base in Maine. He was a first lieutenant, appointed assistant staff judge advocate, base claims officer, legal assistance officer and certified by Headquarters USAK as a trial and defense counsel. After leaving service, he opened a law office at 631 Main St., associated with Merritt H. Davis. He passed the Pennsylvania State Bar Examination in September 1955 and was admitted to the Clarion County Bar Association April 18, 1956. He was admitted to all appellate courts of Pennsylvania Federal courts and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Dolby was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clarion, the Clarion lodge of the BPO Elks and the American Heart Association. Surviving along with his wife, Mrs. Nancy Dolby, are a son, Leonard Ross Dolby at home; two daughters, Lori Ann Dolby, a student a Edinboro State College, and Gwen Colleen Dolby at home; his father, Amos L. Dolby of Brookville RD 1; his mother, Mrs. LaMyrna Dolby of Clarion RD 2. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Henry of Youngstown, Ohio, Mrs. Esther Stewart of Riverside, Calif., and Mrs. Lois Johnson of Mentor, Ohio. A brother, Leonard, died in 1954. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with Rev. George S. Crooks, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery. on December 17, 1977.4

He is survived by a daughter Sharon and a son Leonard Earl, Jr; his mother, Mrs. Ruth Henry of Youngstown; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Amos L. Dolby of Clarion. Also surviving are two sisters, Jeannie and Deborah of Ashtabula, Ohio; and two brothers, Larry Eugene of Sligo and Ronald T., with the U.S. Navy in Rhode Island. The body was taken to the Goble funeral home, Clarion where friends are being received. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Melvin Miles, pastor of the Free Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Clarion Cemetery. on August 8, 1967.4

Born July 19, 1928, in Lucinda, he was the son of the late Frederick Bauer Jr. and Nettie D. (Dolby) Bauer Griebel. He married the former Donna J. Taylor on Jan. 17, 1955, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 19, 1991. Mr. Bauer was a licensed barber for 55 years. He owned and operated Vic's Barber Shop in Tylersburg for many years until he was forced to retire because of health problems. He also worked at Joe's Garage in Tylersburg, and had numerous fond memories from working there. He enjoyed and spoke often of being a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served with the U.S. Army from 1948-54. Four of those years were spent overseas in Europe. Mr. Bauer was a member of St. Mary Church in Crown for many years and Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. He was also a member of the American Legion. Mr. Bauer is survived by a son and daughter: Stephen Bauer and his wife, Peggy of Sterling, Va., and Vicki Nagy and her husband, Thomas of North Huntingdon. He is also survived by two brothers: Vincent Bauer of Knox and Jerry Bauer of Hobart, Okla. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Michael, Brianna, Jacqueline, Nicholas Bauer and Andrew Nagy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a very special nephew, Thomas Bauer (Eugene Bauer's son). In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Bauer was preceded in death by four brothers: infant Theodore, Stephen, Eugene and Max Bauer. Dad, you will be greatly missed, however we are truly happy that your suffering is over and that you are with the Lord. God Bless you on your journey home. Friends and family may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper.
