She is survived by one daughter, Genevieve Howick and her husband, Albert, of Cochranton; a son, Carll Emert and his wife, Sue, of Cochranton; a sister, Alice Hale of Alexandria, Tenn; and two brothers, Harry Carll of Kane and Albert Carll of Oswayo. She also is survived by 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn Sivik and Marilyn Johnson; and by six brothers and four sisters. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Borland Funeral Home in Leeper. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Keith Doverspike, pastor of the Tylersburg Charge United Methodist Churches, officiating. Interment will be in Whig Hill Cemetery. on April 8, 2002.2

He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Carll was married in 1933 in Ridgway to the former Jennie Matson who preceded him in death. He is survived by a brother, Albert Carll and his wife, Margaret, of Oswal; special friends Jack and Judy Barner of Sheffield; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Carll was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Carll Barner; and 12 brothers and sisters. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, at Borden-Lloyd Funeral Home, Sheffield, with the Rev. John Nelson, retired pastor of Ludlow Mission Covenant Church, presiding. Burial will follow in Gibbs Hill Cemetery in Ludlow. on June 25, 2007.2

He had worked for Wolf's Head Oil Refining Co. at Reno, retiring in 1984. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army. Mr. Carll was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the Oil City Lodge F&AM, Valley of Oil City, New Castle Consistory, Zem Zem Shrine, Oil City Chapter, Talbot Commandry, Tall Cedars, Acacia Grotto, Venango County Shrine Club, Jerusalem Council of Erie, and the American Legion of Franklin. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dave (Nancy) Brown of Girard, and Mrs. William (Susan) Weese of Oil City; three grandchildren, Mrs. Joseph (April) Simmons of Havelock, N.C., and Brian Weese and Aaron Weese, both of Oil City; a great-granddaughter, Jessica Simmons of Havelock, N.C., four brothers, John Carll of Bradford, Harry Carll of Kane, Alfred Carll of Auborndale, Fla., and Albert Carll of Oswayo; and four sisters, Mrs. Ellen Kerschbaumer of Greenville, Mrs. Marguerite Wagner of Tionesta, Mrs. Walter (Alice) Hale of Alexandria, Tenn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 pm today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday at the Louis H. Osenider Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. John Stevenson, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Grove Hill cemetery. on December 5, 1988.2

     Albert Eugene "Gene" Carll Albert Eugene "Gene" Carll, 90, of Bradford, passed away, Friday, June 12, 2020 at the Bradford Ecumenical Home. Born on February 15, 1930, in Ludlow, he was a son of the late John Budley and Mary Jeanette (Korb) Carll. He was a 1948 graduate of Bradford High School. On November 20, 1950 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge on November 19, 1954. On August 20, 1955 in the Methodist Church in Salamanca, he married his late wife Donna R. (Stewart) Carll who passed away December 19, 2017. He was employed at Dresser Manufacturing in Management for 38 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension where he served on numerous National, Diocesan, and local committees. He served as delegate to several National Episcopal Conventions as well as representing our own diocese to Province Synod III and Diocesan Conventions. Locally, he was a long-standing member of Vestry, served as a Eucharistic minster, and was a member of various committees within the church. In 2012 he was awarded The Bishop’s Cross for Distinguished Service. He was a founding member of the Cursillo Movement in this area. He earned a certificate in Theological Education in 1989. Gene served on many committees and clubs including Community Links Board, Salvation Army Advisory Board and the Lions Club. He also was a member of Kiwanis Club, Foster Township Planning Commission and active in Care for Children. Gene served in Community Outreach and supported numerous local and national charities. He was a member of Masonic Lodge F&AM 749, the Coudersport Consistory, Zem Zem Shrine, and Orak Grotto. He took pride in driving children to the Shriner’s Hospital in Erie. He and wife were members of the Easter Star in Great Valley NY. Gene was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting and going to horse pull events. His favorite was spending time with his wife Donna, with whom he was married for 63 years. His other passions were history, baseball, trains and antiques. During the 1960s he was a member of a drag racing crew, which won several national titles with the race car the “Bad Banana”. Surviving are two daughters, Lynette Carll and Melanie (Steven) Woods, all of Bradford; two grandchildren, Desiree (Adam) Long and Alex (Shannon) Woods; two great grandsons, Colton Long and Cade Long; two sisters-in-law Shirley Stewart Ingersoll, Elizabeth Carll; one niece, Pam (Mark) Morrison; three nephews, Todd (Laurie) Stewart, Michael (Nancy) Cercone and Jeffrey Carll; and several grand nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, and wife he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rae Lynn Carll in infancy; one brother Duane Carll; one sister, Joyce Cercone; two brothers-in-law Angelo Cercone and Dale Stewart; two nephews Shawn Stewart and Mark Cercone; and one niece Carol Carll. Private funeral services will be held Thursday, June 18, 2020 with Rt. Rev. Sean Rowe, Episcopal Bishop of the Dioceses of NWPA and WNY and the Rev. Stacey Fussell, Rector, officiating. Military honors will follow with the Bradford American Legion Post 108 Honor Guard. Carll, 87, CMS ret USAF, of North Tonawanda, New York, formerly of Bradford, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2018 after a brief illness. Born June 21, 1931 in Ludlow, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John and Jeanette Carll. He was a 1949 graduate of Bradford Area High School and joined the US Air Force immediately after graduation. He served in the Korean War. On April 17, 1954, he married Elizabeth Mimm, who survives. For 40 years he was a proud member of the 107th Tactical Fighter Squadron working as a full time technician and supervisor reaching the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was fondly referred to as “Coach,” a reflection of his many years as a coach for the NYANG rifle teams. In 1968-69 he served with the 107th at Tuy Hoa Air Force Base, South Vietnam. Throughout his career he was awarded numerous recognitions and awards including the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Medal. Duane was a 50 year member of Sutherland Lodge #826. He served as Master twice, was a past Grand Lecturer F&AM of New York State, and a member of the Buffalo Consistory and Ismalia Shrine. He also served as patron in the Order of Eastern Star and chapter dad for the DeMolay. He was a member of North Presbyterian Church for over 50 years serving on many committees as an elder. Duane was a dedicated family man and an avid golfer. Surviving in addition to his wife of 64 years are son, Jeffrey (Carol) Carll; daughter, Pamela (Mark) Morrison; grandchildren, Dr. Jaclyn (Brian) Morrison, Brett (Stephanie) Morrison, Jeffrey R. Carll, Dr. Amanda (Sean) Morrison, Andrew (Jessica) Carll, and Emily (fiancée Fred) Carll; two great grandchildren, Jack and Peyton Morrison; a brother Albert Eugene Carll; sister-in-law Willie Mimm; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Cercone; brother-in-law Angelo Cercone; sister-in-law Donna Carll; and brother-in-law John Mimm. Burial will be in Acacia Cemetery.2 He was born on June 21, 1931 at Ludlow, McKean Co., Pennsylvania.2 He married Elizabeth Mimm on April 17, 1954.2 Duane E. (Nancy) Cercone of Bradford, a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Cercone of Bradford; two brothers, Albert E. "Gene" (Donna) Carll of Bradford, and Duane E. (Betty) Carll of North Tonawanda, N.Y; five grandchildren, Jason M. Cercone, Megan M. (Greg) Mittleider, Brandon J. Cercone, Rachel L. Cercone and Amber Reed; one great-grandchild, Mackenna Cercone; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son, Mark J. Cercone. Mr. Cercone attended Bradford High School and on November 26, 1945 he was drafted into the US ARMY. He served his tour of duty in Germany, and was honorably discharged March 9, 1947. He worked for Kendall Refining, Bethlehem Steel Co., and Dresser Industries from where he retired. He was a member of St. Bernard Church, where he served as an usher, member of the Class Reunion Committee of 1946, a member and past officer of the LaStella Lodge. He served on the Italian Festival Committee, was a member of the American Legion Bradford Post #108 and was active with their Drum and Bugle Corp. in the late 40's. He was also a member of the John F. Kennedym Local #1644 of the International Association Machinists. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Michael J. (Nancy) Cercone, and Mark J. (Carolyn) Cercone, three sisters: Christina (Bruce) Charniskey, Frances (Thomas) Evans, Mary Lama, one brother: Anthony (Judy) Cercone; 5 grandchildren: Jason M. (Jennifer) Cercone, Megan M. Carll of Bradford, Harry Carll of Ludlow and Albert Carll of Oswago; six sisters, Mrs. May Host and Mrs. Marguerite Wagner of Tionesta, Mrs. Kathryn Emert of Tionesta RD, Mrs. Ellen Kerschbaumer of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Grace Thompson of Oil City and Mrs. Alice Hale of Alexandria, Tenn; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, in Ninde Garden Chapel at Tulsa, with Rev. Eugene Sanders, pastor of the Nazarene Church, officiating. Interment was in Floral Haven Gardens at Tulsa, with members of Aurora IOOF Lodge in charge of graveside rites. on January 20, 1972.1

     Sherman Floyd Gray Sherman Floyd Gray, 83, of Bixby, died Friday, November 22, 2013. He was born on September 12, 1930 in Jones, Oklahoma, the son of Joseph and Mary Gray. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953, attaining the rank of Private First Class. He was a truck driver in the military, delivering food to his fellow servicemen, in companies A, B, C, & D. He was a member of the 150th Gun Battalion Headquarters Battery. Throughout his life, Sherman enjoyed bowling, fishing, and hunting, yet he was best at being ornery. He was a funny man, known for his witty sense of humor. He always knew how to bring a smile to your face, whether by a silly song or a clever quip, he always knew how to make you laugh. He taught all of us to never take life too seriously. He was a people person. Children were especially drawn to him. The neighborhood kids liked to come over to his house and visit him on a regular basis. He liked to take daily walks and sit on his porch to oversee the “goings on” of the neighborhood. He loved sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Sherman was a fan of old westerns and enjoyed watching Gunsmoke, when he wasn’t on “neighborhood watch”. On January 31, 1954, he married Charlene Carll, the love of his life. They enjoyed 59 wonderful years as husband and wife. He had worked as a machinist all of his career. Sherman is survived by his wife, Charlene, two daughters, Christi Neal, and her husband, Curtis, aka “Cletis”, and Gayln Zajic, and her husband, Andy, four granddaughters, Karen, Cathy, and her husband, Darrick, Sara, and Andrea, and her husband, Scott, seven great-grandchildren, Becca, Baileigh, Taylor, Jordan, Lucas, Nathan, and Weston, sister, Connie, and beloved pet cat, Vanilla, and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Selma and Corky, and one brother, Gene.2 He was buried at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, 6500 S 129th East Avenue, Broken Arrow, Tulsa Co., Oklahoma.3 He was born on September 12, 1930 at Jones, Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma.2 He married Charlene M.      Charles Francis "Charlie" Host Charles Francis Host, age 44 years, a well known and highly respected resident of Tionesta for the past ten years, passed away at his home at 4 o'clock Sunday morning, Dec. 9, 1934, from a complication of ailments, following an illness of several years. He had gone to Kinzua in company with his brother Wesley host to consult a physician on Saturday, evening returning to his home about midnight. Mr. Host was the son of the late N. B. and Hannah host and was born on the family Homestead near Tylersburg, Clarion County, May 23 1890. Eight sons and five daughters were born to this worthy couple. Charles was reared to manhood there and followed the oil and lumber business as a laborer, but for several years past was employed as a truck operator by the State Highway Department in Tionesta. Mr. Host was widely known in Tionesta and vicinity and was held in high esteem by great many friends. He was a kind and loving husband and father, and will be sadly missed by the family. Mr. Host is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss May Carll, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Carl Jr. of Newmansville and a family of three sons and three daughters, Jeanette, Junior, Charlotte, Audine, John and Allen, all at home. Seven brothers and three sisters also survive as follows: John of Wilmarding; Eugene of Turtle Creek; Harry of Leeper; Percy of Nebraska; Dewey of Lewistown; Lawrence and Wesley Host of Newmansville; Mrs. John Smith at Wilkinsburg; Mrs. Archie Barnes of Youngsville; and Mrs. Wesley McWilliams of Cleveland, Okla. Funeral services in his memory were held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, December 19, in the Washington M. E. Church, Clarion County, with the pastor, the Rev. P. C. Heilbrun officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery. A choir comprised of four men, Maurice Rhodes, Yale Wilson, Charles Osborne and Merlin Shriver, sang "When You Know JesusToo," "My Dream City," and "Face to Face." Six of the brothers acted as pallbearers.6 He was buried at Washington Cemetery, Frills Corners, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.4,5,6 He was born on May 23, 1890 at Newmansville, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.5,6 He married May Lottie Carll, daughter of John Lott Carll Jr. and June Pearl Sampson, on June 30, 1925.1,7,5,6 Charles Francis "Charlie" Host died on December 9, 1934 at Tionesta, Forest Co., Pennsylvania, at age 44.5,6

Mattson died on April 17, 1974 at Kane, McKean Co., Pennsylvania, at age 62.4,7 She Mrs. Jennie C. Carll, 62, wife of Harry Carll of Main Street Ludlow, succumbed to a six-weeks illness at Kane Community Hospital at 11:30 p.m. yesterday. Mrs. Carll had been seriously ill for the past week. She was a life-long resident of Ludlow, born at that place on March 26, 1912. She was a member of First Mission Church of Ludlow and of the Ladies Aid Society of that church. Also, she was a member of the auxiliary of the James F. Huber Post of American Legion. Mrs. Carll was a daughter of the late Carl B. and Eva Larson Mattson. She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Beverly Campbell of Ludlow, and one brother, Raymond Mattson of Gowanda, N.Y. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Interment will be in Gibbs Hill Cemetery at Ludlow. on April 20, 1974.2
