Five brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mattie Elizabeth Mitchell Gray; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Richardson of Richmond, Va; one brother, Ben F. Gray of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Cravens-Shires Funeral Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Bynum Orr and Rev. Fred Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Bluewell. Pallbearers will be Jackie Dean Rhea, Duane Prater, Gary W. Belcher, Robert M. Wyatt, David E. Olinger, Raymond Gray and Clifford Allen. on September 14, 1977.5

Va., have been informed by the Secretary of the Navy that their son lost his life when his ship collided with another in the North Atlantic area. The secretary added: I extend to you my sincere sympathy in your great loss and hope you may find comfort in the knowledge that your son gave his life for his country, upholding the highest traditions of the Navy. The Navy shares in your bereavement and feels the loss of his service. Young Gray was a student of Sylvatus High School and entered the service March 8, 1943. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Archie W. Gray of Sylvatus and three sisters, Mrs. Benny Moore of Sylvatus; Mrs. George Roller, Algoma, W. Mrs. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene after a vehicle driven by Janet Sue Frazier, 32, 440 S. 13th St., ran off the roadway on U.S. 35 northwest of Washington Court House in Fayette County at 5:27 p.m. (Ohio time). The northbound vehicle, headed west, went off the right side of the roadway, hit a guardrail and bridge embankment, spun around and came to rest in a ditch, according to the Fayette County Sheriff's Department which is continuing investigation of the accident. Mrs. Frazier was treated for leg lacerations and released at Fayette Memorial Hospital in Washington Court House. Another passenger in the vehicle, Cara Michelle Frazier, 5, 440 S. 13th St., was transferred to Children's Medical Center at Dayton where she was reported in fair condition today with a fractured pelvis and multiple abrasions. Mrs. Jones was a native of Sylvatus, Va., living in Richmond 36 years. She retired from Alcoa in 1972 after 23 years' employment. She was a member of the Church of God on Chester Boulevard. Her husband, Cecil Jones, died in 1976. Survivors include one daughter, Alma Hammons of Houston, Texas; one son, Woody Frazier of Chillicothe, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Virgie Richardson of Roanoke, Va; two brothers, Moody and Norman Dalton, both of Hillsville, Va. Funeral service for Catha Vanilla Jones will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of God with the Rev. Russell Black officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. on July 28, 1983.3

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Roger and Curtis Dalton and sisters Clara Moran, Ruth Joyce, and Faye Burcham. Wilma is survived by her husband of 65 years, Fred Martin of the home; her six daughters, Debra Blackwell of Auburn, WA; Sandra Pilotte of Christiansburg; Irene Addiss of Laurel Fork; Becky Beasley of Hillsville; Christine Christianson of Roanoke; and Ann Bullins of Galax; brothers Wayman Dalton of Pulaski, Moody Dalton, Jr. and Richard Dalton of Hillsville; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. All who knew Wilma found her to be a caring and compassionate person. She put the needs of others before her own and was a patient and attentive listener. Before her illness, she enjoyed tending her flower gardens, cooking, and spending time with her family.4 She was born on November 26, 1936 at Carroll Co., Virginia.
