Services were Jan. 21 at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg, with Glen Burnside officiating. Burial was at Brownsburg Cemetery. on January 22, 1998.2

Mr. Ingram was born March 14, 1929, in Indianapolis. He acquired a home site in Cooper Landing in 1949. After serving in the Marine Corps, he returned to Alaska with his wife and their children. In 1966, the family moved to Soldotna, where they owned and operated Soldotna Sales and Service. Mr. Ingram participated and was a leader in several civic organizations, including the Grand Lodge of Alaska, Seward and Kenai Masonic Lodges, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Al Aska Shrine Temple, Royal Order of Jesters, National Sojourners, Red Cross of Constantine, Heroes of '76, Cooper Landing Community and Rifle Clubs, Soldotna City Council and State of Alaska Reapportionment Board. His family wrote: ''Big John loved his community and debating current issues with his friends over his daily coffee. He always had a friendly greeting and encouraging word.'' Mr. Ingram was preceded in death by his son, Tom; daughter, Candy; parents; three sisters; and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dottie; son, John Jr; son-in-law, Eddy; grandchildren, Trevor and his fiancee Treena, James and his wife Trenia, Diana and John III; great-grandson, Jeremy; brothers, Paul and Sam; sister, Beatrice; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the Al Aska Temple, Travel Fund, 1930 E. Northern Lights Blvd., Anchorage 99508. Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel. on June 25, 2002.3
