     Gregory Dee "Greg" "Mank" Shafer was buried at Staats Cemetery, Clendenin, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.² His Social Security Number was 235-11-2239.⁴ He Gregory Dee "Mank" Shafer, 47, of Malden, passed away suddenly at home, Wednesday, June 25, 2008. He was born July 29, 1960 and was preceded in death by his parents Ben Dee and Garnet Paxton Shafer. He is survived by his companion Amy Scott; brother, Donald Shafer of Nitro; sisters, Jennifer Twyman and husband David of Malden, Debra Shafer Snodgrass of Malden and Joyce Hammonds of Indiana; children, Miranda Dawn and husband Geraldo Reedy and Jason Michael Shafer of SC; grandchildren Jayden, Aliyah, and Jazmine Reedy; nieces and nephews, Jessica Twyman, Suzanna Gillispie and Michael Brewer, Stephanie Shafer, Kelly Pearson; several great nieces and nephews, special neighbor and family friend Jack Crandall. Mank was a painter and former employee of Wolfe Construction, and had attended Dupont High School. He was a avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt fish, and garden. He will be greatly missed by all. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gregory Dee Shafer Memorial Fund at Poca Valley Bank, POB 1235, Clendenin, WV 25045 in care of Anna Shafer. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday June 29, 2008 at Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday June 30, 2008 with Pastor John Appleton officiating.      John Michael Lersch was buried at Strickland Family Cemetery, Elkview, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.¹ He John Michael Lersch, 26, of Elkview was set free from the chains that bound him on May 1, 2010. He attended Capitol High School and graduated from Horizon High School in Scottsdale Arizona. He was employed by Clark Filter Systems, Inc. Michael loved spending time in the country hills of West Virginia collecting turtles and caring for animals. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Esper Shafer Jr. and John H. Lersch. He is survived by his mother Cheryl Renae Shafer of Pinch; father, John Robert Lersch and step mother LeaAnn of Leon; grandparents, Forrest and Carol Holley of Elkview, Bob and Pat Baker of Leon; brother, Jameson Shafer of Pinch; sisters, Stephanie White of California, and Ashley White of Arizona; uncles, Todd and Ron Shafer both of Elkview; aunts, Sam Hicks and Tina Shafer both of Elkview and Barbara Gold of California. Funeral service will be 12 noon, Tuesday May 4, 2010, at Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin with Pastor Danny McClung officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday May 3, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Strickland Family Cemetery, Elkview.
