He was married Oct 10, 1931 to Alma Barns who survives with three sons, Leroy of Marietta, Johnny and Dick of Dale; two daughters, Mrs. Richard ( Betty) Landaker of Waterford Rt 1 and Carolyn Waters of Vincent Rt. 1, 27 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; three sisters Margaret Alltop of Waterford Rt 1 Willia McCutcheon of Waterford and Vivian Burroughs of Beverly. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ivan , a granddaughter and a great- grandson. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in McCurdy Funeral Home at Beverly with Rev. Robert Irwin officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at Lowell. Military serices will be at the gravesite.      Leroy Eugene Sampson Leroy E. Sampson, 77, of Wooster, died Friday December 11, 2009 at West View Manor, Wooster. A celebration of life service will be Saturday at 1 pm at the Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating. Inurnment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Leroy was born July 15, 1932, in Waterford, Oh to Gerald and Alma Sampson. He married Patricia Young on May 25, 1984. She survives. He was a lifelong trucker, retiring from Orrville Trucking after many years of service. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, and spending time with his family. Leroy will be deeply missed by his wife, children: Debra Hammond, Richard Sampson, Vicki Urquisa, Gary (April) Sampson, Robert (Robbie) Houghton, Douglas Houghton, Carole (Lewis) Malcomb, Sandra Houghton, daughter-in-law Jackie Sampson; 23 grandchildren: 21 great-grandchildren; brothers Harold Sampson and Johnny (Marilyn) Sampson; sister Betty Sampson Landaker. Leroy was preceded in death by daughter Kathy Sampson, two grandsons, his parents, sister Carolyn Waters, and his two beloved pets Trinket and Corky. He was born March 14, 1936 in Waterford, Ohio, son of Woodrow C. Miller and Neota B. Barnes. He retired from Globe Metallurgical after 41 years. He attended Waterford High School and graduated from Beverly High School. He was a member of the Fifth Street Church of Christ, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Honorary member of the Beverly Volunteer Fire Department, National Rifle Association and the Geppetto Woodcarvers. He was married July 9, 1955 to Betty Jean Lecik Miller , his wife of 57 years. He is survived by his wife and 4 children, Darla Ash of Lebanon, Ohio, Robin Rauch and husband Steve of Pickerington, Ohio, Scott Miller and wife Vickie of Beverly and Jamie Miller and wife Anissa of Lowell; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Melva Dixon and Janice King of Beverly. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marian Weihl and a brother Donald Miller. A private service will be held Saturday January 12, 2013 for the immediate family with Evang. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Melanie Fleming and husband, Gary, of Lower Salem and Cindy Waller and husband, Steve, of Caldwell; one son, Todd Weihl of Watertown; eight grandchildren, Megan (Matt) McElfresh of Marietta, Shelley Fleming (Jared Morganstern) of McConnelsville, Garrett Fleming of Lower Salem, Carrie, Emily and Grant Weihl of Watertown, and Brandy and Alexis Waller of Caldwell; two sisters, Melva Dixon and Janice (Merle) King of Beverly; one brother, Ronald (Betty) Miller of Beverly; two sisters-in-law, Linda (Dean) Fleming of Devola and Sandra Sieble of Watertown; several nieces and nephews; and many adopted nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Clayton Allen Weihl; her parents; a brother, Donnie Miller; and a brother-in-law, Ted Dixon. Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday (June 27, 2009) at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with the Rev. Robin Swinsburg officiating. Burial is in Watertown Cemetery.
