He is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 59 years, Joan Link Akers; and five children, Vicki Utt (Wesley), Donna Lucas (Danny), Jerry F. Akers (Lori), Cindy Hart (Tim), and Mark Akers. Grandpa Akers was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Tonya Phillips, Melanie Bishop, Monica Percival, Justin and Katie Lucas, Zachary, Seth, Caleb, and Hannah Akers, Matthew and Colby Memitt as well as 8 great-grandchildren, Allison Bishop, Riley Phillips, Therron and Elijah Percival, Amelia and Cooper Lucas, Harleigh Hamilton, and Sheila Memitt. Also surviving are two brothers, Curtis and Grover Akers (Nita); and two sisters, Marie Trail and Beulah Sweeney (Bruce). The family is being served by Maberry Funeral Home in Floyd where they will receive friends Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Auburn Baptist Church in Riner with his son, Pastor Jerry F. Akers, and Pastor Stanley "Shake" Smith officiating. Interment with military honors by Floyd VFW Post #7854 and American Legion Post # 127 will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg. on September 19, 2011.1

Felton living six miles north and three east of Nelson, died at his home Monday morning about one o'clock. Death was the result of a self-inflicted gun shot would on Saturday before. Deceased had been in poor health for a long time and this was no doubt responsible for the rash act. Emory E. Felton was born on the G.A. Felton homestead April 25, 1875, and was 51 years and 28 days old at the time of his death. He was a member of the Christian church. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and thirteen-year-old son Edwin, the aged father and mother, six sisters: Mrs. Alice Adamson, Wauneta; Mrs. Zella Overton, Clay Center; Mrs. Jennie Humerickhouse and Mrs. Bereta Ruhga, Nelson; Mrs. Stella Kay, Marsland; and Mrs. Sarah Moore, New Raymer, Colorado; all of whom were present at the funeral services which were held at the Christian church in Angus at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Shook officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery at Edgar. on May 27, 1926.9

     Alice Anna Felton was buried at Eden Cemetery (also known as Wauneta Cemetery), Wauneta, Chase Co., Nebraska.3,7,2 She was born on April 16, 1876 at Angus, Nuckolls Co., Nebraska.5,8,7,2 She married Eugene Stanley Adamson on June 2, 1898.3,5,2 As of June 2, 1898,her married name was Adamson. Alice Anna Felton died on February 16, 1952 at Wauneta, Chase Co., Nebraska, at age 75.3,8,7,2 She Alice Anna, daughter of George and Anna Felton, was born in a log house on her father's homestead in Nuckolls County, Nebraska, on April 16, 1876. She departed this life at her home near Wauneta, Nebr., on Feb. 16, 1952, at the age of 75 years and 10 months. She was the oldest daughter in a family of ten children. When a young girl her fellowship was placed with the Ox Bow Christian church and when that church was moved to Angus her membership remained with it. Mrs. Adamson was still a member of the Angus church at the time of her death. Mrs. Adamson took some college work at the old Fairfield college and taught school at the Red Line school west of Nelson. On June 2, 1898, she was united in marriage to Stanley Adamson of Nora. To this union where born four daughters, all of whom survive and live near the present family home. Mr. and Mrs. Adamson moved from Nuckolls county (sic) 34 years ago to a farm near Wauneta. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary on June 2, 1948 at their country home. Although the last days of her life were filled with much physical pain, she suffered patiently. She was a faithful wife, a kind mother and her grandchildren were the delight of her life. She was preceeded in dead, by: one grandson, Lloyd Beezley, her parents; two sisters and three brothers. Surviving to mourn her death are: her husband, Stanley; four daughters, Florence Maris of Wauneta, Mildred Beezley of Hamlet, Fern Peters of Wauneta, and Lila Prior of Palisade; 13 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Zella Overton of Clay Center, Nebr., Mrs. Sarah Moore of Pueblo, Col; Mrs. Jennie Humerickhouse of Grand Junction, Colo., and Mrs. Stella Kay of Crawford, Nebr. Funeral services were conducted from the Eden Missionary church near Wauneta and about one miles from the Adamson home on Tuesday, Febr. 19. Ezra Zimmerman, former minister of the Eden church and close friend of Mrs. Adamson, read Scripture and offered prayer. Glen Moore, head of Lamar, Nebr., read the obituary. The sermon was given by Don DeBord of Angus. Burial was in the Eden Missionary cemetery in the church yard. on February 28, 1952.2
