He was the eldest of three sons. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Cox and brother Douglas Cox. He is survived by his brother Alan Cox, two children Gina Penley and Daniel Cox, and six grandchildren Briana, Lucas, Taylor, Kyle, Bryce, and Kamryn. David served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1974; and was stationed in Germany.
