Dorothy was a member of the J.O.Y. Sunday School Class at her church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John D. "Bud" Spangler. She is survived by her beloved children, one son and daughter-in-law, John Duane and Bridy Spangler of Hillsville, Ill; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Kenny Keefer of Huntington, W.Va., and Renee and Steve Minor of Edgewater, Fla; her twin sister and brother-in-law, Judith Ann and Col. Donald Keith Cliff USMC Ret. of Huntington; her nine grandchildren whom she loved, Derek Spangler, Laura Spangler, Jesse Spangler, Isaac Spangler, Whitney Spangler, Aimee Hampton, Andy Minor, Ryan Keefer and Travis Keefer; four great-grandchildren, Zoee, Marlee, Conner and Nathan; many friends and neighbors. John David "Bud" Spangler was buried at Crescent Hill Cemetery, Ceredo, Wayne Co., West Virginia.4,5,6 His Social Security Number was 234-42-2810.3 He was born on August 17, 1927 at Kenova, Wayne Co., West Virginia.3,5,6 He married Dorothy Louise Merrifield, daughter of Albert Leslie Merrifield and Dorothy Louise Fauber, on October 9, 1953 at Huntington, Cabell Co., West Virginia.1,2,7,6 John David "Bud" Spangler died on April 12, 2005 at Huntington, Cabell Co., West Virginia, at age 77.3,5,6 He John D. "Bud" Spangler, 77, of Ceredo, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Burial will follow in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Ceredo. Bud was born on August 17, 1927, to J. Harry and Jessie Wilson Spangler. He graduated from C-K High School in 1945 and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served his country during World War II. When Bud was discharged from the Navy, he attended Marshall University and the University of Denver. He was a member of Kenova Masonic Lodge #110 AF&AM and a member of American Legion Post #93 Kenova, whose members will conduct graveside rites. Bud retired from the Ohio River Company as plant manager in 1989. He served his church as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Since his retirement he has enjoyed woodworking, painting and playing golf. On a sunny day, Bud could be found out on the course with many of his friends, especially his good friends Clyde Billups and Blackie Stowers. He loved Ceredo and served on the Town Council since 1975 and also served as the City Treasurer. Bud will be sadly missed by the Mayor, members of the Council and the staff of the Town of Ceredo. He had served on the Ceredo Beautification Committee and was the representative from Ceredo on the Kenova Water Board. More than anything Bud loved his wife of over 50 years, Dorothy L. Merrifield Spangler and his three children, John Duane Spangler and his wife Bridy of Hillsdale, Ill., Rebecca Keefer and her husband, Kenny of Huntington and Renee Minor and her husband Steve of Edgewater, Fla. Also dear to his heart were his grandchildren; grandsons, Derek, Jesse and Isaac Spangler, Andy Minor, Ryan and Travis Keefer; granddaughters, Aimee Hampton and Laura Spangler; and four great-grandchildren. Bud was full of life; he always wore a smile and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor. on April 15, 2005.6

David Keith Cliff was buried at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, Cabell Co., West Virginia.4,3 He was born on February 2, 1953 at West Virginia.2,4 He died on September 7, 1974 at Alexandria, Virginia, at age 21.2,4,3 He Funeral services were held Wednesday in Huntington, W.Va., for a 21-year-old man who leaped to his death Saturday from a 20-story Fairfax County apartment building. David Cliff, 5597 Seminary Road, the son of Col. and Mrs. Donald K. Cliff, Longview Drive, Wood- bridge, was pronounced dead at Alexandria Hospital soon Alexandria after he reportedly cried "Look out, I'm jumping!" to horrified spectators at Alexandria's Skyline Towers. Cliff fell 20 stories into a flower bed, police said, and apparently died on or soon after impact. A member of St. Paul Methodist Church in Woodbridge, Cliff had been employed with Xerox Corporation in Springfield. His father, Col. Cliff, has been Chief of Staff of the Marine Corps Development and Education Command (MCDEC) since Sept. 5, 1973, and has been stationed at Quantico since May 1972. Col. Cliff has also served on the Salvation Army Board and as the Marine representative to the Eastern William Chamber of Commerce. His mother, the former Judy Merrifield of Huntington, W.Va., teaches at Independent Hill School. Cliff is also survived by four sisters, Deborah, Kimberly, Pamela, Robin, all of Woodbridge; and a maternal grandmother, Mrs. Albert Merrifield, Huntington, W.Va. Burial was in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Huntington. on September 13, 1974.3
