     David Levi Smallwood David Levi Smallwood, 90, of Roanoke, passed away on February 10, 2022. He was born on April 21, 1931 in Roanoke. He joined the US Air Force and fought in the Korean War. He was injured and honorably discharged in July of 1955. He often talked about the time he spent stationed in Alaska. He proudly wore his Veterans Air Force hat and enjoyed when people would thank him for his service to his country. He had a great sense of humor and was heard on several occasions making the comment that “Serving my country wasn’t exactly my idea (he was drafted). David had a very outgoing personality and was a big flirt. He was the manager of Etna convenience store near Tanglewood Mall for many years and took pride in his work. His station was often the most profitable in the chain. He never met a stranger and everyone loved him. David was an extremely gifted wood worker and made many beautiful items including musical instruments. He could fix anything. He owned his own cabinet shop, Smallwood Custom Cabinets, in St. Petersburg, Florida for many years. He loved the outdoors and especially squirrel hunting. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Fay.3 He was born on April 21, 1931 at Botetourt Co., Virginia.2,3 He married Louaddie Leah Anderson, daughter of Robert Bryant Anderson Sr. and Lula Eva Conner, on May 24, 1962 at Roanoke, Virginia.1 David Levi Smallwood and Louaddie Leah Anderson were divorced on September 2, 1980 at Pinellas Co., Florida.4 David Levi Smallwood died on February 10, 2022 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 90.3
