Helen Jane Beckelheimer was buried at Kenbridge Heights Cemetery, Kenbridge, Lunenburg Co., Virginia.6,3 She was born on November 12, 1928 at Cabell Co., West Virginia.6,2,3 As of June, 1953,her married name was Baugh.3 She married Dr. Emerson Daniel Baugh Jr. in June, 1953.3 Helen Jane Beckelheimer died on December 5, 2014 at Virginia at age 86.6,3 She BAUGH, Helen Jane Beckelheimer of Kenbridge, Virginia, died December 25, 2014. Helen Jane is survived in loving memory by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Emerson Daniel Baugh Jr. of Kenbridge, Virginia; and her children, Jane Osborne Baugh Singletary (Bruce), Ann Carter Baugh Watts (Edward), Emerson Daniel Baugh III (Cornelia) and John Matthews Baugh (Robin); as well as grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. On November 12, 1928, Helen Jane was born to Herman Roy Beckelheimer and Glenna Osborne Beckelheimer in Fayetteville, West Virginia. As a child, she played at having 'classrooms' for her dolls and kitties. She always enjoyed learning and went on to college first at Mary Baldwin College in Virginia and then graduated from Morris Harvey College (University of Charleston) in January of 1951. She taught elementary education in both West Virginia and Virginia (West Virginia Coal Camp back in the 'hills,' Charlottesville, Richmond, Kenbridge). Upon meeting Emerson Daniel Baugh Jr. through mutual dear friends, Helen Jane and Dan were married in Fayetteville in June of 1953, when the native mountain rhododendron were blooming. They lived first in an apartment in Richmond, Virginia, while Dr. Dan finished his medical residency. The couple then moved to Kenbridge, where they made their first home and garden in the little log cabin on 4th Avenue. Helen Jane could do it all, she taught school, she painted walls, sewed curtains, needle pointed her dining room chair seats, knitted sweaters for every family member, dug flowerbeds, and laid a brick patio while Dr. Dan began his practice as a country doctor. While starting a family in Kenbridge, and planning and building their home on Old Plank Road, Helen Jane also managed to help with teaching Sunday School classes, help to start a local Girl Scout troop, and to encourage her children in all manner of crafts, art, antiques and outdoor interests. (The outdoors part was partially to keep them all out of her way!!) Few can forget Helen Jane raising Angel, the Christmas goat, in the children's old playpen in her kitchen, or the silver dollar sized pancakes to accompany the Bantam chicken fried eggs. Every summer (and sometimes Christmas!), brought greatly anticipated trips to her beloved West Virginia mountains to visit grandparents. She never forgot her West Virginia family and friends while also making many new and lifelong friends in Kenbridge.Through all of these busy years of raising four children, Helen Jane's lifelong love for Virginia and West Virginia history never waned, and her great passion for genealogy and that quest for knowledge in this field was extraordinary. She was a member of the Kenbridge United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, National Society of American Colonists, Memorial Foundation of the Virginia German Colonists in Virginia, Virginia Genealogical Society, and the National Genealogical Society. She made friends through all of these associations as well, where they all shared a common interest. In recent years of declining health, Helen Jane required the aid of caregivers in her home, all of whom she was very fond. Helen Jane will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. The family will receive friends, Saturday, December 27, 2014, at the Clarke Funeral Home, 110 East 5th Avenue, Kenbridge, Va. from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at the Kenbridge United Methodist Church, 201 East 5th Avenue, Kenbridge, Va., at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2014, followed by interment in the Kenbridge Cemetery, Kenbridge. Memorials may be made to Lunenburg Health Service, 1428 6th Street, Victoria, Va. 23974 on December 26, 2014.3
