He had been in declining health and disabled for the past 10 years and a patient at Kindred Hospital for two weeks. Born May 27, 1942, in Danville, he was the son of the late Johnnie Lillard Vaden and the late Lois Lewis Vaden. He lived all of his life in Danville and graduated from George Washington High School. He was employed several years with Western and Southern Life Insurance Company, and was of the Methodist faith. He married Camille Groux Vaden on Dec. 31, 1963. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Randa V. Wade, of Danville; a sister, Sandra Colenda, of Greensboro, N.C; a brother, Larry Vaden, of Huntington, W.Va; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by His son, Johnnie Lee Vaden. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 17 at Swicegood Chapel. She was born on April 3, 1944, in Boston, Mass., to the late Joseph Groux and Carmella Staiti Adams. Mrs. Vaden worked as a medical secretary at Danville Regional Medical Center and was a member of Stokesland United Methodist Church. She had lived in Danville for the past 44 years. Mrs. Vaden graduated from Cohn High School in Nashville, Tenn. She is survived by two daughters, Randa Wade of Danville, Va., and Diana Smith of Memphis, Tenn;three sisters, Bernadette Angus of Illinois, Catherine Guadagnino of New Jersey, and Carolyn Fuller of Danville, Va;one brother, Walter Adams Jr., of Collinsville, Va;and eight grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vaden was predeceased by her husband, Randy E. Vaden;and son, Johnnie Lee Vaden. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2013, at Swicegood Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Gentry officiating. Visitation will be held from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Swicegood Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. Swicegood Funeral Service is respectfully serving the Vaden family. on August 30, 2013.3
