Jackie was a graduate of Lynchburg College and taught school in Bedford County before returning to Roanoke to teach in Roanoke County as a substitute teacher at Back Creek and Bent Mountain Elementary Schools for over 25 years. She was a faithful member of Windsor Hills Baptist Church for 31 years, serving as a Sunday School teacher, President of Baptist Women and pianist for Children's Sunday School. Jackie will be remembered for her love of the Lord and her radiant smile. It will be said of her that ''She fought the good fight, she finished the race, she kept the faith. Now there is in store for her the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to her on that day--not only to her but also to all who have longed for His appearing.'' A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with burial to follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
