She was born June 20, 1936 in Campbell County, a daughter of the late William Isaac Talley and Isabell Tanner Talley. She was a life-long member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Rustburg, where she was the church organist since 1964. She also served as the Treasurer, Secretary, Sunday School Teacher and Choir Director. June graduated from the Virginia Commercial College in 1954, was a former employee of the People's Bank, Campbell County Schools and retired from the Department of Corrections as a Secretary. She is survived by a son, William Alfred Hankla, Jr. and his wife, Marye Ann; a daughter, Lisa H. Dawson and her husband, Sammy all of Rustburg; three grandchildren, Daniel Hankla, Greg Dawson and his fiance', Brittany Goff and Ben Dawson; three sisters, Dale T. Morris of Rustburg, Ann T. Reid and her husband Don of Rustburg and Merle T. Alvis and her husband Harry of Lynchburg; a sister-in-law, Jacqueline Catterton of Garden City, South Carolina; and three life-long friends, Elizabeth Williams, Alese Burks and Frances White. Also surviving is a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Rustburg by Pastor Jim Galford. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence. The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials; "Do as June would do; go do a good deed for someone less fortunate than yourself" or consider the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 5662 Red House Road, Rustburg, VA 24588. on January 30, 2013.2

Richard served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1976 and met his wife, Sylvia Reynolds, while stationed in San Antonio, Texas. After retiring from the army, he worked as a nurse at the Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center, was a long-time member of the Vinton First Aid Crew, and was a member of Vinton Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sylvia; his three daughters, Debbie Marsh and her husband, Bobby, Terry Hough and her husband, Mark, and Denise Spangler and her husband, Greg; his two sisters, Brenda Adams and her husband, Doug, and Anita Reynolds; his seven grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; and his beloved puppy, Brandy. Richard was a hero to his nation and a hero to his family. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Dr. Chris Monroe officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. on February 13, 2017.4
