     Vensley Lilard “Runt” Eller WILKESBORO -- Mr. Vensley 'Runt' Eller, 79, died Wednesday, September 18, 1996 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Mr. Eller was born August 13, 1917 in Wilkes County to the late Commodore Oscar and Beulah Foster Eller. He was owner/operator of Champion Grocery in Ferguson of 28 years before his retirement. After retiring, he represented Travelers Protective Association. Mr. Eller was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He servced in the US Merchant Marines during WWII. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 PM at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Speas and the Rev. E.W. McMurray officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.      Ursula "Sue" Shoemaker WILKESBORO -- Mrs. Sue Shoemaker Eller, age 73, of Wilkesboro, widow of Vensley 'Runt' Eller died Thursday, October 16, 1997 at her home. Funeral services will be held Saturday 2:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, with the Rev. E. W. McMurray officiating and Mr. Curtis Greene reading comments from Rev. Rick Speas. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Eller was born in Wilkes County, November 19, 1923 to Harrison Edgar and Elizabeth Ann McNeil Shoemaker. For many years, Mr. and Mrs. Eller were owners and proprietors of Champion Grocery. As a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, she was active in the choir and the WMU. Mrs. Eller was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, where she won many awards for her sewing excellence. She is survived by two daughters, Ann E. Holbrook of Wilkesboro, Ginger Link of Hillsborough; one sister, Lutrelle Phillips of Mt.      Rebecca Ann Eller Mrs. Rebecca Ann Eller Holbrook, age 71, wife of Paul C. Holbrook, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held, 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Prayer Chapel with Rev. Mike Hamby and Rev. Derek Kilby officiating. Burial will be in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Friday evening at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Mrs. Holbrook was born September 29, 1943 in Wilkes County to V.L. (Runt) and Sue Shoemaker Eller. She was retired from Wilkes Community College, The John A. Walker Community Center, where she worked in Ticket Sales as the Box Office Manager. Mrs. Holbrook was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Holbrook is survived by, her husband Paul C.      Paul C. Holbrook Paul C. Holbrook, 75, of Wilkesboro defeated his courageous battle with Alzheimer’s on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, at Rose Glen Manor in North Wilkesboro. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at Pilgrim Baptist Church, with the Rev. Derek Kilby and the Rev. Joey Moore officiating. Burial with Masonic rites by Traphill Lodge 483 will be in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Holbrook was born Oct. 30, 1940, in Wilkes County to Lundy B. and Beatrice Sidden Holbrook. He retired as the executive vice president and city executive of Yadkin Valley Bank. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ann Eller Holbrook; his parents; and two brothers, Edward Holbrook and Kenneth Holbrook. Mr. Holbrook is survived by two sons, Matthew Holbrook and wife, Whitney, of Wilkesboro and Kevin Holbrook of Wilkesboro; two grandchildren whom he adored, Lane Holbrook and Harrison Holbrook of Wilkesboro; three sisters, Peggy Byrd of Liberty, Helen Wyatt and husband, Willie, of Traphill and Bonnie Brewer of Hamptonville; and several nieces and nephews. Hamby, seven grandchildren; Eric Ellis, Cathy Ellis, Steven Charles Ellis, Keith Thomas Huffman, Patricia Huffman Shacklette, Jeff Ellis and Derek Royce Ellis, 8 great grand-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Ellis was born October 27, 1934 in Wilkes County to Chelsie Hughes and Annie Jones Ellis. He was General Manager for Unicon Concrete before retiring. He was co-owner and president of J&R Sales, Inc. of Hiddenite, NC. Mr. Ellis was a member and deacon of Mountain View Baptist Church. He is survived by: his wife, two sons, his mother, Mrs. Annie Jones Ellis of Wilkesboro; one sister, two brothers, two grandchildren.² He was born on March 28, 1941 at Wilkes Co., North Carolina.² He died on November 5, 2002 at Statesville, Iredell Co., North Carolina, at age 61.²
