     Venver Damon Foster PURLEAR - Mr. Venver Damon Foster, 89, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2001, at Lewis Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Sherrill Wellborn and the Rev. Mike Hamby officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Thursday evening at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Mr. Foster was born in Wilkes County Dec. 30, 1911, to Gilbert Monroe and Dora Bell Foster. He was married to the late Novella Eller Foster. Mr. Foster was an active member of Lewis Fork Baptist Church. He was one of the founders of Maple Springs Community Center, a board member of BROC and a member of Mount Pleasant Ruritan Club. He is survived by, two daughters, Kate Eller of the Mount Pleasant Community and Judy Parsons of Purlear; a son, Clyde Foster of the home; a sister, Clara Sue Robertson of Purlear; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.      Arvin Lee Foster Mr. Arvin Lee Foster, age 95, of Lynchburg, Virginia, formerly of Millers Creek died Friday, January 18, 2008. A graveside service with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 will be held at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Foster was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on June 2, 1912, to Furches O. and Elizabeth Walsh Foster. He was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. Mr. Foster served in the US Navy during World War II and later worked for Gaddy Motor Company, B. & L Motors, and Midway Pontiac. In addition to his parents, Mr. Foster was preceded in death by five brothers, Billy Gene, Sterlie, Richard, Harry and Olin; three sisters, Veonia Foster, Zella Wiles, and Mildred Foster.¹ He was buried at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, 708 Curtis Bridge Road, Wilkesboro, Wilkes Co., North Carolina.¹ He married Nellie Blanche Mahaffey.³ Arvin Lee Foster was born on June 2, 1912 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia.¹ He died on January 18, 2008 at Lynchburg, Virginia, at age 95.¹

Before retiring, he was owner of Foster' s Lawn & Garden Center. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Foster was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Masonic Lodge #573, the North Wilkesboro Elk Lodge, the Moose Lodge and was a charter member of the Tory Oak Twirlers Square Dance and Round Dance Club. He was a successful, hard-working, self-employed businessman, and a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He loved people and could bring a smile to anyone' s face. He was compassionate and warm-hearted. He loved his family with all his heart and soul. His generosity knew no bounds. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was survived by: his wife, Eula Huffman Foster of the home; three daughters, Sheila Nichols of Winston-Salem, Yvonne Hamby of Clemmons, Denise Brooks of Glade Valley; one son, Harold Hayes Foster, Jr. of Winston-Salem, two sisters, Elena Harris of Winston-Salem, Betty Ann Blackburn of Wilkesboro; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Foster was born in Wilkes County on May 29, 1923, to Furches O. and Elizabeth Walsh Foster. He was a deacon and member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. He also served as a Sunday school superintendent and secretary. Mr. Foster also enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Mr. Foster served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was retired from American Drew Furniture. Mr. Foster is survived by his wife, Florine Craven Foster of the home; two sisters, Ellena F. Harris of Winston-Salem and Betty Ann F. Blackburn of Wilkesboro; two brothers, Arvin Foster and wife Blanche of Lynchburg, Va., and Harold H. Foster and wife Eula of Winston-Salem; several nieces and nephews; and special sisters-in-law Lucille Craven, Agnes Brock and Edith Earp Mathis. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday, Jan. 18, at Pilgrim Baptist Church, with Dr. Dennis Love and the Rev. Jason Wiles officiating. Burial with military honors by VFW Post 1142 will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. before the service at Pilgrim Baptist Church.      Florine Craven Mrs. Florine Craven Foster, age 95 of Wilkesboro, widow of Olin Foster, passed away Thursday, February 09, 2017 at Wilkes Senior Village. Funeral services will be held 2:00, Saturday, February 11th, 2017 at Reins Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Frank Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service at Reins Sturdivant Funeral Home. Florine was born October 22, 1921 in Wilkes County to Joshua Samuel and Myrtle Sloop Craven. She was a homemaker and a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church where she served as church secretary/clerk for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers; William Atlee Craven, Paul Aaron Craven, Samuel Jefferson Craven, Henry Edward Craven, Ted B. Craven, Joseph Allen Craven, Donald Wilson Craven, Ralph Lindbergh Craven and three infant brothers, sisters; Mary Louise Elizabeth Craven, Marion Elmina Craven Miller, Marie Ella Mae Craven Patterson and two infant sisters. Mrs. Foster is survived by two sisters; Edith Craven Mathis and Agnes Virginia Craven Brock, niece; Barbara Cooper and husband Rev.
