A graveside service with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 will be held at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Foster was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on June 2, 1912, to Furches O. and Elizabeth Walsh Foster. He was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. Mr. Foster served in the US Navy during World War II and later worked for Gaddy Motor Company, B. & L Motors, and Midway Pontiac. In addition to his parents, Mr. Foster was preceded in death by five brothers, Billy Gene, Sterlie, Richard, Harry and Olin; three sisters, Veonia Foster, Zella Wiles, and Mildred Foster.1 He was buried at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, 708 Curtis Bridge Road, Wilkesboro, Wilkes Co., North Carolina.1 He married Nellie Blanche Mahaffey.3 Arvin Lee Foster was born on June 2, 1912 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia.1 He died on January 18, 2008 at Lynchburg, Virginia, at age 95.1

Pleasant Masonic Lodge #573, the North Wilkesboro Elk Lodge, the Moose Lodge and was a charter member of the Tory Oak Twirlers Square Dance and Round Dance Club. He was a successful, hard-working, self-employed businessman, and a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He loved people and could bring a smile to anyone' s face. He was compassionate and warm-hearted. He loved his family with all his heart and soul. His generosity knew no bounds. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was survived by: his wife, Eula Huffman Foster of the home; three daughters, Sheila Nichols of Winston-Salem, Yvonne Hamby of Clemmons, Denise Brooks of Glade Valley; one son, Harold Hayes Foster, Jr. of Winston-Salem, two sisters, Elena Harris of Winston-Salem, Betty Ann Blackburn of Wilkesboro; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 322 North Center Street, Statesville, NC 28677. on March 20, 2009.2

Blackburn of Wilkesboro; two brothers, Arvin Foster and wife Blanche of Lynchburg, Va., and Harold H. Foster and wife Eula of Winston-Salem; several nieces and nephews; and special sisters-in-law Lucille Craven, Agnes Brock and Edith Earp Mathis. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday, Jan. 18, at Pilgrim Baptist Church, with Dr. Dennis Love and the Rev. Jason Wiles officiating. Burial with military honors by VFW Post 1142 will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. before the service at Pilgrim Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pilgrim Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1517, Millers Creek, NC 28651. on January 16, 2008.3
