Mr. Call was born April 18, 1947 in Caldwell County to Howard Hubert and Connie Scott Call. He was a member of West Yadkin Baptist Church. He was the Supervisor of Operations/Maintenance at Duke Energy. He served in the Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife; Sharon Wright Call, one son; Brian James Call and wife Kimberly of Durham, two grandchildren; Tyler and Chase Call, two sisters; Donna Call Watts and Lynne Call Cox and husband, Larry of both of Wilkesboro, one brother; David Howard Call and wife, Linda of Claremont.      James Avery Hamby Jr. Pfafftown - After a period of declining health, Mr. James Avery Hamby, 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 30, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Hamby was born on May 18, 1921 to James Avery Hamby, Sr. and Mattie Bradley Hamby. He spent his early life in Wilkes County, served in the U. S. Army from October, 1942 through July, 1946. He married Anita Elledge in 1950. He had the blessing of finding the love of his life and was further blessed to spend 59 years devoted to their marriage. They began raising their family of three children before moving to Forsyth County in 1954. While being a devoted and loving father, he spent many of his working years in the lumber business as the owner of Hamby Lumber Company. Later he started Hamby Trucking Company and was thankful to be able to continue working until the age of 87. He was a longtime member of Bethania Moravian Church and he loved his church family dearly. His gift of gab and zest for life were infectious to those around him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Mr. Hamby is survived by his wife, Anita Elledge Hamby, of the home; a daughter, Doris Doub and husband, Randall, of Pfafftown; two sons: James Edward "Eddie" Hamby and wife, Vicky, of Pfafftown and Richard Hamby of Lewisville; and two grandsons, Brian and Adam Doub of Winston-Salem. He is also survived by a sister, Beatrice Crouch of Lenoir, NC as well as several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 4, at Bethania Moravian Church with Rev. Wayne Byerly and Rev. Charles Fishel officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Bethania Moravian Church Building Fund or the charity of the donor's choice. Salem Funeral Home is assisting the Hamby family.1 He was buried at Bethania Moravian God's Acre, 5545 Main Street, Bethania, Forsyth Co., North Carolina.1 He was born on May 18, 1921.1 He married Anita Elledge in 1950.1 James Avery Hamby Jr. died on November 30, 2009 at Wake Forest, Wake Co., North Carolina, at age 88.1

Surviving, in addition to his father, are his wife, the former Miss Mary Lee Vetter; one brother, W.C. Fairchild of Dallas, Tex; and four sisters, including Mrs. W.S. Hamby of Happy Valley, Mrs. J. T. Ruble, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mrs. Ora Lee Bonham of Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at Dunkirk Methodist church in Wilkes county. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
