He was born February 23, 1928, in Hoquiam, Washington to Martcil and Laura (Thrash) Kotula. Marty graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1947 and went on to attend Washington State University and graduated in 1951 with a degree in Engineering. He married Dorothy Sue Gilbert in Hoquiam, Wash. on August 13, 1949; she survives him. He held a position at Bonneville Power for 4 years and then worked as an Electrical Engineer for Boeing for 27 years in Special Designs. Marty was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Raymond Elks Club, the Boeing Ski Club and was Holy Family Church Council - Eucharistic Minister. He loved his time spent hunting, fishing, camping with family, clam digging, skiing, sailing, light air craft flying and wood working. Marty spent the summer months during his youth working at Hood Canal. He enjoyed exploring and hiking throughout the Olympic Wilderness. Marty was a professional musician, played percussion in stage bands, orchestras and mastered the piano for his family get-togethers. His favorite past times were recalled by family as his time spent and people he met, including his wife Dorothy Sue, along the shores of Lake Quinault. The two courted and spent a lot of time around the Lake, where he and his father built a summer cabin and where the whole family would share in many memories. Marty is survived by his wife, Dorothy Sue; a son, Peter R. Kotula of Raymond; two daughters, Jane E. Galloway of Vancouver and Jil M. Muller of Pe Ell; ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Martcil C. Kotula in 2011; and a daughter, Dixie S. Kotula in 2007. Rosary services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Frances with Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00. A burial will follow at the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. A gathering will be held for all friends and family at the Swiss Hall in Frances immediately following committal services. Memorials may be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church in Frances. Arrangements are in care of Stoller's Mortuary in Raymond. on June 20, 2013.3

Dorothy Sue Gilbert Dorothy Sue Kotula, a longtime Frances resident, died Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Sharon Care Center in Centralia, Wash. Dorothy was born June 4, 1930 in Chillicothe, Mo. to Gordon and Sadie (Runyon) Gilbert. In 1949 Dorothy graduated from Hoquiam High School and later that year married Martcil E. Kotula in Hoquiam Aug. 13, 1949. She worked for the Seahurst Clinic as a doctor’s assistant for 8 years and as a bookkeeper at Coast Oyster. She enjoyed spending her free time gardening, snow skiing, sailing, hiking, traveling and doing church activities. She was a member of the Holy Family Altar Society and choir. Dorothy was also a member of the Boeing Ski Club, and she enjoyed volunteering at the Pe Ell Food Bank. She is survived by a son Peter R. Kotula of Raymond; two daughters, Jane E. Galloway of Vancouver, Jil M. Muller of Pe Ell, and her sister Ann Hazelquist of Olympia. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Martcil E. Kotula in 2013, an infant daughter, a son Martcil C. Kotula, and a daughter Dixie S. Kotula. Dorothy was also preceded in death by three brothers; Donald, Robert and Richard Gilbert, and her sister Dixie Gilbert. Rosary services will be held at 10:00 a.m. with funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11th, 2015 at the Holy Family Catholic Church and Cemetery in Frances next to her husband, Marty. A gathering will be held at the Swiss Park in Frances following services. Memorial donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to the Holy Family Catholic Church at P.O. Box 235, Pe Ell, WA 98572. Arrangements were in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.2 She was buried at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Frances, Pacific Co., Washington.2 She was born on June 4, 1930 at Chillioothe, Daviess Co., Missouri.2 As of August 13, 1949,her married name was Kotula.1 She married Martcil Eugene "Marty" Kotula, son of Martcil Kotula and Laura F.
