     Edwin Keith "Ed" Zimmerman Ed Zimmerman, 77, of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at his home in Oskaloosa. He was born Friday, May 24, 1935, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Horace Alton and Lela Bonita Conrey Zimmerman. Ed graduated from the Knoxville High School with the class of 1953. In 1953, Ed joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge he went to work at Iowa Power and Light and retired from there in 1994 after 27 years. Ed loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and going to motorcycle rallies with Jan. He also enjoyed Iowa Hawkeyes Football, and attending MacKenzie McGraw's sporting events. Ed was a member of the Oskaloosa American Legion, ABATE Iowa, the Shriners, V.F.W. and the American Legion Honor Guard. Ed is survived by a son: Kevin (& Patricia) Zimmerman of Newport News, Virginia; a daughter: Kelly (& Randy) Hayes of Ackworth, Iowa; 4 grandchildren: Alissa Edwards, Alex Hayes, Zachary Zimmerman and Jacob Zimmerman; 2 great grandchildren: Jaycee and Aidan Hayes; 2 sisters: Katie McCoy of Pleasant Hill and Kay (& Blaine) Vriezlaar of Monroe; a brother: Howard Zimmerman of Arizona; a special buddy: MacKenzie McGraw; his best friend: Joe Smith; and all of Janice Williams family. He was preceded in death by the love of his life: Janice Williams; his parents; and a brother: Ivan Zimmerman. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 11:30 A.M. at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. As was Ed's wish his body has been cremated and no visitation is planned. Graveside military rites will be given by members of the Oskaloosa American Legion and V.F.W. Chet attended elementary school in Port Orange and graduated in 1963 from Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Fla. He served in an engineering and supply company in the Army, including a tour of Korea, from 1963 until 1966. In August 1966, he married Linda Ackley in south Daytona, Fla. To this union was born a son, Peter Francis Conrey. Chet worked for Foremost Dairy from 1966 until 1979, then he took a position with Bass & Swaggerty (later known as PYA Monarch) until an accident in 2000. He was an avid and enthu-siastic lifetime supporter of NASCAR racing. Chet was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Richard. Survivors include seven brothers and four sisters, James J. Conrey of West Liberty, Iowa, Kathryn Conrey of Gastonia, N.C., Sharon Turnbull of Maxwell, Carol Ethridge of Fayetteville, Ark., Frank Conrey of Edgewater, Fla., Michael Conrey of Princess Anne, Md., Ken Conrey of Pegram, Tenn., Tommy Conrey of North Platte, Daniel Conrey of Deltona, Fla., Penny Leigh of Bentonville, Ark., and Cliff Conrey of Valdosta, Ga. He is also survived by his son, Peter (Trisha); three grandchildren, Samuel, Adam and Abi-gail; Peter's mother, Linda; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial has been established. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, in Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell with Jay Turnbull officiating and military honors graveside by the Nebraska National Guard. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home. on September 23, 2006.⁵

Born June 5, 1949, in Iowa, Mr. Conrey was a son of the late Marion Conrey and Zola Terry Conrey. He was a former equipment operator for the city of Salisbury. He was a Vietnam Army veteran and life member of the V.F.W. in Powellville, Md. He is survived by his wife, Leda Edler Conrey, Princess Anne; two daughters, Shannon Strassel and her husband, David, Port Orange, and Yvette Watson and her husband, Jimmy, Elizabethton, Tenn; son, Michael Dale Conrey Jr., Daytona Beach; two stepsons, Darin Kovach and his wife, Tina, Salisbury, and Eric Kovach and his wife, Crystal, Eden, Md; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Jimmy Conrey, Iowa, Kay Conrey, New Bern, N.C., Sharon Turnbull, Maxwell, Neb., Carol Ethridge, Southville, Ark., Frank Conrey, Edgewater, Dan Conrey, Deltona, Penny Leigh, Rogers, Ark., Clifford Conrey, Valdosta, Ga., and Tom Conrey, North Platte, Neb; and several nieces and nephews. Two late brothers were Chet Conrey and Ken Conrey. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wed., April 25, at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.      Tommy Joe "Tom" Conrey was born on February 21, 1954 at Knoxville, Marion Co., Iowa.^6,5 He married Joyce Ann Perkins on December 17, 1976 at Volusia Co., Florida.³ Tommy Joe "Tom" Conrey and Joyce Ann Perkins were divorced on December 9, 1988 at Volusia Co., Florida.⁴ Tommy Joe "Tom" Conrey died on April 12, 2008 at North Platte, Lincoln Co., Nebraska, at age 54.^6,5 He Tommy Joe Conrey, 55, of North Platte passed away April 12, 2008, at his home. Tom was born Feb. 21, 1954, in Knoxville, Iowa, to Francis Marion "Red" Conrey and Zola Cordelia Terry. Tom was a master cabinetmaker and he worked many years with Baylor Construction Co. He was loved dearly by his family and friends. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He married the love of his life, Joyce Perkins, in Daytona Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Dickey, Chet, Ken and Mike. He is survived by his former spouse, Joyce Finley; daughters, Bobbie Halfhill and Jennifer (Wes) Carr; son, Jason Conrey; sisters, Katie Conrey of New Bern, N.C., Sharon Conrey-Turnbull of Maxwell, Carol Ethridge of Fayetteville, Ark., Penny Leigh of Bentonville, Ark; brothers, Jim Conrey of West Liberty, Iowa, Frank Conrey of Edgewater, Fla., Danny Conrey of Deltona, Fla., and Cliff Conrey of Valdosta, Ga; seven grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial has been established. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte. Visitation is from noon to 9 p.m. today, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 15, 2008.⁵
