On February 23, 1935, he united in marriage to Lelia Allen, and to this union two children were born. His wife preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 1975. Survivors include one son, Terrell D. Hammons, Paris, Tenn; one daughter, Sharon H. Murray, Lowisburg, N.C; two sisters, Frieda Charles and Joyce Love Fitch, both of Detroit, Mich. Services were conducted at the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Tommy Frazier and the Rev. Dale Rose officiating. He enjoyed working on cars, gardening, playing the guitar and spending time with his grandchildren. He served in the Kentucky National Guard. On July 5, 1952, he united in marriage with Mattie Jean Allen in New Tazewell, TN and to this union four children were born. Survivors include two children, Ronnie Lee Smith of Barbourville and Kathy Smith of Detroit, MI; a sister, Daphne Patterson and husband, Harold, of Barbourville; a brother-in-law, Walter Gambrel of Bimble; a sister-in-law, Jewell Smith of Bimble; five grandchildren, Keith Ray Smith, Ronnie Lee Smith Jr., Rebecca Jean Wason, Cynthia Jean Smith and Charles David Seremak Jr; seven great grandchildren; among other loved ones and friends. His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, June 16 at 2 P.M. with Rev. John Carter officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Payne Cemetery at Hinkle. Casket bearers will be Charles David Seremak Jr., George Smith, Ronnie Lee Smith Jr., Renfro Messer, Gary Wayne Gambrel, Terry Patterson and Tommy Hinkle.2 He was born on July 2, 1935 at Bimble, Knox Co., Kentucky.2 He married Mattie Jean Allen, daughter of Charles "Charlie" Allen and Fannie Payne, on July 5, 1952 at New Tazewell, Claiborne Co., Tennessee.1,2,3 H. He was a son of the late H. R. and Mattie Jean Allen Smith born on June 2, 1959 in Barbourville. Ronnie was a former pallet maker, of the Pentecostal faith and faithfully served his country in the Army National Guard. He was an avid baseball fan, especially of the Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed his children and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Ray and Randall Dean Smith. Survivors include three children, Ronnie Lee Smith Jr. and wife, Macy, of Louisville and Becky Wasson and husband, Jed, and Cynthia Smith all of Columbia; a sister, Kathy Smith of Roseville, MI; five grandchildren, Keaton, Kaden, Makayla, Abigail and Tristen; two nephews, Keith Ray Smith and wife, Paulette, of Allen Park, MI and Charles David "Chuck" Seremak of Roseville, MI; among other loved ones and dear friends. His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, October 14 at 2 P.M. with Rev. John Carter officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Payne Cemetery at Hinkle with military funeral honors. Casket bearers will be Chuck Seremak, Ryan Daniels, Curt Reed, John Saylor, George Smith, Rick Messer and Ronnie Smith Jr. Honorary bearers will be Renfro Messer, Tommy Hinkle and Keith Smith. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Monday after 9 A.M. until the funeral hour.3
