Rexford Yeisley "Rex" Morehead Rexford Yeisley Morehead, 87, of the Nobusiness community of Bland, VA passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017. He was born September 23, 1929, at Hollybrook, the son of the late Lake Dewitt & Kate Elizabeth Burton Morehead. Rex was a farmer all of his life and considered work his hobby. He enjoyed sweets and loved music, supporting the local music scene loyally. He attended Wesendonck United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Bland Masonic Lodge, Post # 206. He served on the school board for 27 years, serving as chairman over half of those years. Rex was a special father, grandfather, neighbor and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mollie Dunagan Morehead, his wife, Ruth Sharon Morehead, his sisters, Josephine Mills, Joyce Middleton and Kitty June Naber, a brother, Troy Morehead, his daughter-in-law, Amanda Morehead and a grandson, Brogan Morehead. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Meagan Morehead Bradshaw; his sons and daughter-in-law, Dayton Morehead and D. Hash & Heather Morehead; and grandchildren, Morgan Morehead, Mason Morehead, Mollie Morehead, Oak Bradshaw, Beau Bradshaw, Troy Bradshaw, Connor Morehead, Duncan Morehead and Arwen Morehead; many special neighbors and friends. Masonic rites will be provided by Bland Masonic Lodge, Post # 206. He had received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a retired instrument worker for the Celanese Corp. at Narrows, Va., with more than 43 Years of services. He was a member of the Textile Worker Union of America. He was an active member of the Melrose Presbyterian Church in Princeton, and was a member of the AF & AM Masonic Lodge 134 of Princeton. For many years, he worked with the Civil Air Patrol of Mercer County. He was preceded in death by a brother, George Bowling. Survivors include three sons, William Joseph Bowling of Houston, Texas, Jonathan Wesley Bowling of Roanoke, Va., and Carl Jeffrey Bowling of the home; one sister, Irene B. Roach of Easley, S.C; and one brother, Carl E. Bowling of Arlington Heights, Ill. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton. on November 12, 1998.6

He was born in Russell County Virginia on July 18, 1937 to Arthur and Nell Lewis. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Agriculture Education and after serving in the Army for a few years. He returned to Virginia to teach in several high schools in the Southwestern part of the state. He then returned to college at West Virginia University and Ohio State University to get his Master’s and Doctorate degrees. From there he stayed in the educational field teaching at Virginia Tech, Ohio State University and finished his teaching career at Colorado State University, where he retired in 2002. Wiley was preceded in death by his parents, and by his sister Shirley Mounts. He is survived by his sister Bernice Donley (David) of San Diego, CA, and niece Deanna Van Valer (John) of Folsom, CA and nephew Allan Donley (Mary) of Kirkland, WA. on February 4, 2018.3 He died on January 25, 2048 at Fort Collins, Larimer Co., Colorado, at age 110.3
