He was preceded in death by his wife, Pavanne S. Elmore; parents, Otmer Gay and Marie Elmore; brothers, Donald and Edward Elmore. He was a 1959 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, where he played on a state championship baseball team and a state runner-up basketball team. He was chosen Mr. Stonewall Jackson his senior year. Gay attended West Virginia University on a basketball scholarship, and graduated in 1965. He had a Master's degree plus 30 hours towards his doctorate in Administration. Gay was employed by the Kanawha County Board Of Education with 20 years of service and served as a coach for numerous activities. He felt most comfortable in a gym participating in and teaching sports. He was a constant guiding hand in his own children's lives. Upon retirement, he started his own real estate business. He was a member of Christ Church United Methodist, Charleston. Surviving, sisters, Mary Margaret McClung and Terry Kessell; children, Gay (Beth) Elmore, Kimberly (Brent) Webster, Michelle (Rusty) Wooton; grandchildren, Ot, Jon, Liddy and Abby Elmore, Justin and Kyle Webster, Katelyn Wooton. Service will be 10 a.m. Friday April 17, at Christ Church United Methodist, Charleston with Rev. Randy Flanagan officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, South Charleston. on April 16, 2015.³

     Pavanne Stollings was buried at Glendale Cemetery, South Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.³ She was born on April 4, 1943 at New York.^3,1,2,4 As of December 26, 1963,her married name was Elmore.¹ She married Otmer Gay Elmore Sr., son of Otmer Gay Elmore and Marie Clara Rucker, on December 26, 1963 at Kanawha Co., West Virginia.^1,2 Pavanne Stollings died on July 17, 2008 at Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 65.^3,2,4 She Pavanne S. Elmore, 65, of South Charleston passed away peacefully Thursday, July 17, 2008. She was born April 4, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eloise Stollings and the granddaughter of the late Dessie Winter Stollings. She attended Christ Church United Methodist and was a retired schoolteacher and guidance counselor for Kanawha county schools. She attended West Virginia University on a Board of Governors scholarship, earning both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. Pavanne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sports fan. Her presence will be missed and her memory cherished by all the lives she touched. Surviving to mourn her passing are her beloved husband of almost 50 years, Otmer Gay Elmore Sr; children, Otmer Gay Elmore Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, of South Charleston, Kimberly Vanne Elmore Webster and husband, Brent, of Charleston and Michelle Marie Elmore Wooton and husband, Russell, of Beckley; and grandchildren, Ot Elmore, Jon Elmore, Liddy Elmore, Abby Elmore, Justin Webster and Kyle Webster. A private service will be held to celebrate the life of Pavanne. on July 19, 2008.²

     John Edward "Eddy" Elmore was buried at Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.⁴ He was born on October 25, 1942 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.^6,3 He married Barbara Sue Slimick on August 21, 1964 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.^3,4 John Edward "Eddy" Elmore died on June 25, 2009 at Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 66.^6,4 He John E. "Eddy" Elmore Sr., 66, of Elkview went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 25, 2009, after a long illness and courageous battle with leukemia. He was a retired schoolteacher from the Kanawha County Board of Education. He taught and coached at Elkview Junior High School, Stonewall Jackson High School, Chelyan Jr. High School, and Elk District Little League and officiated high school basketball. Eddy helped to establish "lifetime sports" in the Kanawha County schools. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otmer and Marie Elmore; and a brother, Donnie Elmore. Eddy was a loving husband, father, best friend and papaw. Surviving are his loving wife, Barbara Slimick Elmore; son and his wife, John Edward Jr. and Nikia Elmore of Elkview; daughter and her husband, Karen and Rick Messinger of Elkview; brother, Gay Elmore of South Charleston; sisters, Mary Margaret McClung of Tennessee and Terry Kessell; and grandchildren, Madison and Kaylee Messinger and Eliana, Eian and Eliyah Elmore. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at the Hafer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lee Swor officiating. Burial will follow in Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney. on June 27, 2009.⁴

Elmore, 62, of Goldtown went to be with the Lord August 24, 2006, after a short illness. Donald graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1961 and retired from the Kroger warehouse with 29 years service. Donald was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Marie and Bill Fisher. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sue Elmore at home; daughters and their husbands, Donna Sue and Bob Taylor of Scott Depot and Teresa and Richard Haynes of Goldtown; son, Donnie Elmore of Goldtown; special grandson and little buddy, Jacob Haynes whom he loved very much; sisters, Mary Margaret McClung and Terry Kessell; and brothers, Gay and Eddie Elmore. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 28, at Fisher Chapel United Methodist Church, Middle Fork, with the Rev. David Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Boggess-Shamblin Cemetery, Watts Chapel Road, Goldtown. on August 26, 2006.²

She enjoyed spending time gardening, growing flowers and mowing the grass. She was a truly wonderful woman who spoiled and babied her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
