     Olive Ruth Dillon Olive Ruth Arthur, 88, of Hilger died Thursday evening at her home of natural causes. She was born November 17, 1917 near Winifred, MT, the second child of E. William and Sylvina (Frohlich) Dillon. Ruth began school in Winifred and continued classes at the Donkey Ridge School at Salt Creek when her family moved there. She was an avid reader. She continued to study throughout her life and also wrote poetry. Ruth worked four years helping prepare, cook and serve meals at neighbor's homes during harvest and thrashing. She was united in marriage to James W. Arthur on November 20, 1935 in Lewistown, MT. They farmed, ranched and raised six children in the Winifred and Salt Creek areas. Ruth was a lifetime Christian Scientist and enjoyed her church.      John Marion Northway John, 69 years old, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Taylor House. John Marion, the son of Leonard, Sr. and Edith (Spencer) Northway was born on October 19, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was united in marriage with Cheryl Howard in 1966. John was a self-employed finish carpenter for thirty years. He also built a few new homes, remodeled homes and was a cabinet maker. He loved people and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever and wherever needed. He loved his family and life. John is survived by his wife Cheryl; his two sons, Eric (Lee) of Mitchellville, and Andrew (Amy) of Ankeny; three grandchildren, Hunter, Spencer and Halle; and three step-grandchildren, Lillian, Melissa and Isadora. He is also survived by three sisters, Ethel (Stanley) of Milo, Irma of Colfax, and Janette of Milo; three brothers, Leonard (Linda) of Runnells, LeRoy of Lineville, and Allen (Vicki) of Indianola. John also had many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, and two siblings, Alice and Dennis. His funeral will be Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Runnells Christian Church in Runnells, Iowa. Visitation will be Monday, October 3, 2016 from 6-8 pm at the Runnells Christian Church. Eric was born on March 22, 1970 in Des Moines, Iowa to John and Cheryl (Howard) Northway. Eric grew up in Runnells, Iowa and was a graduate of Southeast Polk in 1988. He attended ISU in Ames and The Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. He received his Dr. at Durham University in Durham, UK. Eric was a Senior Lecturer in the Philosophy and Religious Studies Dept. at ISU in Ames. He truly loved his students and his job. He had a way of speaking at a level that everyone could understand and connect to. This is one reason he was such a respected and loved teacher. Eric loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed trapping. He had a great respect for nature and all animals. He loved books. Anything he found interesting and ready to try, he read about it first, and began to accomplish the task. (100%) He was a caring, honest and humble man with a kind heart. He was always willing to help anyone at any time. He loved his family and friends. Eric is survived by his mother, Cheryl Northway of Runnells; brother, Andrew(Amy)Northway; his nephews Hunter and Spencer Northway and niece Halle Northway of Ankeny; Lee, Isadora, Melissa and Lillian Wolfer of Mitchellville; many special aunts, uncles and cousins and a multitude of friend all over the U.S. Eric was preceded in death by his father, John Northway and his grandparents Leonard/Edith Northway and Raymond/Lois Howard. We will hold near to our heart Eric’s short time on this earth with gratitude and many wonderful memories.3 He married Lee Unknown.1 Dr. Eric Wayne Northway was born on March 22, 1970 at Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa.3 He died on June 24, 2018 at Mitchellville, Polk Co., Iowa, at age 48.3

     Janette Marie Northway Janette Marie (Northway) Morton - Janette passed away early in the morning of the 24th of October at Westview Care Center in due to complication from a fall at home in Milo. She was the daughter of Leonard and Edith (Spencer) Northway Sr. and was born October 19, 1946 at Des Moines General Hospital in Des Moines. She attended a two room School House (Woodland) walking with her twin brother John. Graduating 8th grade she went on to S.E. Polk High School and there was involved in sports-basketball and going to the Drake Relays running Hurdles and getting ribbons and medals for performing without error. After graduation she worked at the state of Iowa at the Robert Lucas Building in Des Moines for the drivers License and convictions area. Janette always got her work done early and asked to help others if they needed any help. She even got to process her own ticket. In later years after her boys were Out of School Janette went to DMAAC in Ankeny for further education. In 1994 she was hired by the Good Samaritan Society in Indianola and never missed a day of work for 14 years. The family was told she was one of the best workers and could count one her to be on time. Janette now decided to stay at home and help raise her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alice; brothers, Dennis and her twin John. Surviving are her sons, Darren Carter and Orville Morton; 6 grandchildren; sisters, Ethel Harmison and Irma Baker ; brothers, Leonard and LeRoy and Allen Northway. Visitation will be from 5- 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2016 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016 at the church her folks helped build-Woodland Community Church in rural Runnells.
