Surviving: wife, Amalie Petty Oesterle; sons, Richard C. Jr. of Slate, E. John II, of Parkersburg; sister, Mrs. James A. Bibbly Jr. of Charleston; two grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Andrew Gerns officiating. Burial with Masonic graveside rites will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. on November 9, 1992.4

Born in Princeton on April 6, 1951, he was the son of Neola Swim Chatting of Princeton and the late Truman Harold Chatting. Harold was employed as an Eligibility Intake Worker with the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources and had previously worked as a School Teacher in Virginia. He was a graduate of the Princeton High School Class of 1969, a graduate of Concord University with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and completed his graduate work in School Administration at Radford University. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents George W. and Maggie Hobbs Chatting and his Maternal Grandparents, Garfield and Virgie Swim.
