She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis ("Ed") Chattin; sisters, Mildred Wilkerson and Mary Mitchell; brothers, Tommy and Howard Cooper, and a granddaughter, Terri E. Summers. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be missed by all. Surviving are her beloved children and spouses, a daughter and son-in-law, Maxine and Billy McKee of Roanoke; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Sandi Eakin of Vinton and John and Jean Eakin of Roanoke; three sisters, Eula Cooper and Gracie Brown of Roanoke and Elsie Altice of Rocky Mount; 12 grandchildren and spouses, David McKee and Marci Abbott, Danny McKee, Dennis McKee, Debbie M. and Jerry Thomas, Donnie Eakin, Kathy Eakin, Steven and Cindy Eakin, Teresa E. and Garfield Underwood, Ashlee and Whitney Eakin, John Eakin Jr. and Cindy E. Rock; six great-grandchildren, Justin McKee, Nicole Hayth, Chad Thomas, Mitch and Cassie Eakin and Thomas Underwood, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 22, 1997, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, with the Rev. Carter Sloan and the Rev. Gene Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on December 20, 1997.1

A period of visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel with Pastor Brian Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. on January 2, 2006.6
