Lowell had lived most of his life in the Tionesta area. He worked for a short time in Erie. Lowell was raised on a farm and did farm work most of his life. He enlisted in the United Sates Army at Fort Knox and was at a base in the Philippines serving during World War II. He worked at Crator Pottery Plant in Shippenville. Later he transferred to the Tionesta Plant, which became the Evenflo shop making baby bottles. Lowell retired from Evenflo in 1982. In his earlier years Lowell enjoyed hunting, traveling and was always proud of taking care of his home and lawn. He also went to square dances and liked to go out to eat. Lowell attended Washington Chapel. He was married to the former Betty Porter in 1950, and she preceded him in death in June of 1977. They had no children. Lowell was the last surviving offspring of a family of 11 children. He had many nieces and nephews who survive. He most recently was living with his niece, Stacy Langer of Tionesta. Also surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Charles Holt of Tionesta. Lowell was preceded in death by eight brothers; Randall, Clyde, Alva, Leon, Archie, Orie, Clair and Ralph; two sisters, Bessie Miller and Twila Willings. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Faller Funeral Home Inc. in Fryburg. Funeral services will be conducted at the Faller Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Randy Evans, Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice Chaplain officiating. Interment will be in the Washington Church Cemetery following the service. on April 8, 2013.¹

She was born December 20, 1942, in Mayburg, PA, daughter of the late Strickland L. and Cleston (Slocum) Porter. On July 20, 1962, at the Lickingville EUB Church, she married Charles H. Holt who survives. The couple started out as elementary school sweethearts, meeting in the seventh grade. She and her husband were inseparable, as they both drove school bus for the Forest Area School District, both worked the tour bus for Mary’s Little Lamb Tours of Curllsville, PA, and later delivered the Oil City Derrick and the Clarion News to hundreds of subscribers around the area. Joy also worked various positions at the Forest County Courthouse for 16 years. She loved working with crafts and playing the organ. Surviving in addition to her husband Chuck is their daughter, Ellen L. Holt of Tionesta, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald L. Porter, and a sister, Betty L. Sliker. Friends will be received at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta on Saturday, January 27, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at which time services will be held with Rev. Samuel J. Wagner, Associate Pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin, PA, officiating. Mrs. Armstrong is survived by four children, Clifford Armstrong Sr. and his wife, Debra, of Titusville, Craig Armstrong and his wife, Linda, of Perkiomenville, Darlene Schleifer and her husband, Robert, of Polk, and Valerie Rice and her husband, Gene, of Jacksonville, N.C; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alice Manross and her husband, David, of Fagundas. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Charlotte Fratus. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Gordon B. She had worked at the Sylvania Company as a machine operator. She enjoyed fishing and bowling, where she had 45 years of perfect attendance on various bowling teams, even bowling left handed when she suffered a broken right arm. She was a member of West Hickory United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Manross, April 15, 2010; and two sisters, Donna Armstrong and Charlotte Fratus. She is survived by two sons, David C. Manross and John B. Manross, both of Fagundas. He then worked for Preston Tool and Die at Oil City and was last employed by Seneca Tool and Die as a machinist. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. Survivors include: two sons and two daughters-in-law, Clifford Sr and Debra Armstrong of Titusville, RD 3, and Craig and Linda Armstrong of Perkiomenville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Darlene and Robert Schleifer of Polk and Valerie Casler and her friend, Robert Barbarini, of Erie; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Leroy Armstrong Sr of Cooperstown and Gene Armstrong of Summitville, Tenn; two sisters, Alfreda Rodgers of Irving, Texas, and Donna Armstrong of Titusville; and many nieces and nephews.
