     Sheldon T. "Bernie" Abernethy Sheldon T. "Bernie" Abernethy, 64, of 2710 West Washington St., Bradford, passed away Thursday (April 14, 2016) at his residence. Born Nov. 26, 1951, in Bradford, he was the son of the late Paul Bernard and Mary Ellen Sheldon Abernethy. He was a 1969 graduate of Bradford Area High School. After high school he worked for Loblaw's for a time. Mr. Abernethy was drafted into the U.S. Army on Feb. 1, 1971. He served during the Vietnam Conflict and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Sharpshooter. He was honourably discharged Jan. 31, 1973. Upon returning to Bradford he began working for the U.S. Post Office as a clerk retiring in 2009 after many years of service. Bernie was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. He loved to ice fish, play Euchre, and was a voracious Dallas Cowboys fan. He is survived by two sisters, Carol L. Erickson of Warren and Susan E. Abernethy of Bradford; five nieces and nephews, Ed Snider, Michelle Snider, Melanie Snider, John Paul (Susan) Piganelli, and Meredith (Karla) Piganelli; and six great-nieces and nephews, William, Geneva, Thomas, Kera, Evan, and Andrew. He was preceded in death by his parents. At the request of the family there will be no public visitation. A celebration of Bernie's life will be held at a time and date to be announced.1 He was born on November 26, 1951 at Bradford, McKean Co., Pennsylvania.1 He died on April 14, 2016 at Bradford, McKean Co., Pennsylvania, at age 64.1

     Ellen Loretta Dunn was buried at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair, Essex Co., New Jersey.1 She was born on June 17, 1928 at Glen Cove, Nassau Co., New York.1,3 As of January 3, 1953,her married name was Cunniff.2 She married Leo Clair Cunniff, son of Emmett John Cunniff and Verla Eldine Martin, on January 3, 1953 at Oyster Bay, Nassau Co., New York.1,2 Ellen Loretta Dunn died on November 5, 2013 at Glen Ridge, Essex Co., New Jersey, at age 85.1,3 She Ellen Loretta (Dunn) Cunniff, of Cedar Grove, N.J., died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. from Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove. A Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Cedar Grove. Entombment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery Mausoleum in Montclair, N.J. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Born in Glen Cove, Long Island, N.Y., Ellen was the daughter of John James Dunn and Lillian Loretta (Hennessey). She grew up in Oyster Bay, Long Island, N.Y., attended St. Dominic's elementary and high schools, and graduated from Good Counsel College with a B.A. in mathematics, and from the State University of New York at New Paltz with an M.S. in education. Ellen taught at the Mountain Avenue Grade School in Bayville, N.Y., and at the Nishuane School in Montclair, N.J. She was active in the community and served on the Cedar Grove Library Board of Trustees. Ellen was active in the bridge club, and sang in the choir at St. Catherine of Siena Church, where she was an active parishioner. In 1996, Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Leo C. Cunniff, son of Emmett John Cunniff and Verla Elaine (Martin). She is survived by three sons, Dennis Cunniff, M.D., Brig. Gen. Michael Cunniff and his wife, Diane (Jankiewicz), and Robert Cunniff and his wife, Linda (Mackey), and six grandchildren, Alecia, Connor, Christopher, Mackenzie, Lauren, and Samantha. Ellen was preceded in death by three siblings, John Dunn Jr., Marion Maggi, and Edward Dunn. on November 7, 2013.1

     Charles R. Stahl, 78, of Meadville, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015, in Conneautville, Pa. He was born on Dec. 31, 1936, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Carl and Luella (Madill) Stahl. Charles was a 1955 graduate of Punxsutawney High School. Following graduation, Mr. Stahl joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country. Mr. Stahl settled in the Meadville area, residing there more than 55 years. He worked as a Loan Officer for Northwest Savings in Erie, Pa., until his retirement. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Meadville. His life passions were, first and foremost, his family, followed by being an avid Steelers Fan, (of which not even family should call him during a Steelers game) the Pirates, Penguins and long drives with his dog, Jack. He enjoyed heckling others about the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys. Surviving relatives include two children, Erik Stahl and wife Andrea of Middleville, Michigan, and Stacy Couch of Essexville, Michigan; three grandchildren, Shane Plowman and Breann and Lars Stahl; two sisters, Patricia Brady of Punxsutawney and Kay Carroll and husband Frank of Pittsburgh. Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2015, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Benjamin Travis. Interment will follow at the Adrian-Anita Community Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded. on June 18, 2015.1
